Job Title: Executive Household Manager

Location: Princeton, NJ 08540

Employment Type: Part-time (20 hours/week, flexible)

Schedule: Preference for full day Monday (~8 hours), with 3-4 additional mornings (~2-4 hours/day)

Compensation: $3035/hour based on experience

Start Date: ASAP

About Our Family

We are a family of four in Princeton, NJ, with two children who will be in college this fall, leaving us as empty nesters. One parent has a high-pressure career, involving significant travel (30-50% of the time) and working from home the remaining 50%. The other is preparing to start a photography business and will be at home full-time.

We live in a spacious home that reflects our attention to detail and aesthetic. We take great pride in having everything in its place. We love to entertain and appreciate having a home that is always company ready neat, organized, and impeccably maintained. Our two Maine Coon cats are very much part of the family, and we need someone who can care for them as part of overseeing the household operations.

We're looking for someone professional, proactive, and dependable who can manage daily cleaning, seasonal maintenance, and everything in between with minimal direction. Having the time and mental space to focus on our work and personal interests is incredibly important to us. Additionally, we need someone who can take charge of the household (and cats) and ensure everything runs smoothly while we travel.

Who You Are / What We're Looking For

We are looking for a reliable, kind, and caring individual who can seamlessly manage the household and maintain a pristine, guest-ready environment. You should be organized and detail-oriented, with a genuine desire to take pride in your work and consistently do a good job.

You are someone who is proactive and takes initiative, seeing what needs to be donewhether it's organizing the sock drawers or handling seasonal taskswithout needing to be told. We appreciate someone who is professional, discreet and stays out of the way, taking care of tasks quietly and efficiently without disrupting the household flow. Most importantly, we want someone who cares about doing a great job and maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and organization.

Key Responsibilities

Household Management Maintenance, and Organization

  • Maintain household organizational systems (closets, storage, pantry)
  • Maintain the entire house in a "guest-ready" state at all times, ensuring all rooms, living spaces (making beds daily), storage areas, closets, drawers, and outdoor spaces are clean, tidy, and organized.
  • Load/unload dishwasher, put away dishes, wipe surfaces, vacuum high-traffic areas, spot-clean carpets as needed.
  • Wash basement couch cushion covers (as needed)
  • Conduct seasonal swaps (clothing and seasonal and holiday dcor: bring out dcor, help decorate, take down dcor, pack/label/store)
  • Prepare for family events, holidays, and guest stays; help with smaller, casual events/entertainment organize, prepare for, serve, clean up
  • Prepare and coordinate donation drop offs and pick ups
  • Maintain and weekly watering of indoor plants

Inventory Management & Errands

  • Create and manage running household supply lists
  • Track and restock household items (Kleenex, TP, drinks, snacks, etc.)
  • Receive, unpack and put away grocery and general house delivery items
  • Box and bring returns to USPS/UPS/FedEx
  • Break down recycling and take to curb weekly along with trash, bring barrels back
  • Collect mail and take in packages daily

Laundry & Linen Care

  • Spot treat, wash, dry, fold, and put away laundry (clothing, bedding, towels) including special care for delicates
  • Iron and steam clothing, iron sheets
  • Manage linens: rotate bedding, refresh towels, and essentials weekly

Meal Planning & Preparation

  • Light food prep (chopping vegetables, marinating meat, boiling eggs, etc.)
  • Clean kitchen post-prep
  • Help with entertaining (prep, clean-up, and service during events)

Pet Care

  • Feed cats and ensure their continuous-flow water and dry food systems are maintained
  • Scoop litter box, dispose of litter, clean and vacuum cat area and furniture
  • Transport cats to groomer and cat hotel as needed
  • House-sit and care for cats when the family is traveling

Vendor & Property Oversight

  • Maintain seasonally outdoor entertainment spaces (wipe down outdoor furniture, keep mosquito lamps charged, blow debris off deck after storms, put out umbrellas and pillows)
  • Pool management (run pool cleaner, skim pool, ensure pool cover pump runs efficiently with periodic cleaning)
  • Oversee outdoor tasks like deadheading flowers in pots and managing garden care
  • Check and maintain water softener, filling with salt as needed; change fridge/sink water filters as needed
  • Empty dehumidifier

Deep Cleaning & Special Projects

  • Perform deep cleaning tasks, including refrigerators, ovens, baseboards, garage floor, dishwasher, washing machine, and garbage cans (both indoor and outdoor)
  • Clean windows (inside), scrub cookware, polish silver, sharpen knives, and oil cutting boards

Administrative & Personal Assistant Support

  • Occasional assistance with scheduling, logistics and coordination of events/appointments

Additional Notes

  • Cleaning Support for Parents 15-min away: Provide 4 hours of light-tidy and laundry for the client's parents every other week (MayOctober). Cleaning hours can be taken from the household's regular hours or added on separately.
