About the Team: 

The Brand & Communications team drives all aspects of brand identity, media relations, digital media, and content strategy, focusing on both external impact and internal alignment. By crafting compelling stories and innovative campaigns, we energize and inspire stakeholders, fueling momentum that drives Relativity's mission forward. 

About the Role 

This role owns internal communications for Relativity Space, developing high-impact communications strategies and deliverables that keep employees informed, aligned, and connected to the company's mission, priorities, and milestones. Through thoughtful messaging, you'll help employees understand what we're building, why it matters and, how their work contributes to our collective success. The ideal candidate is a highly adaptable leader with strong instincts, executive presence, and the ability to shift seamlessly between long-term communications planning and real-time, high-stakes communications. As the Director of Internal Communications, you'll: 

  • Own and evolve Relativity's internal communications strategy, systems, channels, and governance to enable effective, scalable communication within the organization. 
  • Shape narratives that connect technical progress, organizational priorities, and business decisions into clear, engaging narratives that build alignment and trust across diverse internal audiences. 
  • Draft and manage executive communications, including All Hands content, leadership updates, organizational announcements, and sensitive or time-critical messaging. 
  • Build and maintain a unified editorial calendar spanning internal channels (Slack, intranet, newsletters, video updates) and work with the external communications team to ensure alignment with external platforms. 
  • Partner with subject matter experts across engineering, manufacturing, operations, HR, and leadership to surface stories that reflect Relativity's innovation, progress, and culture to retain and inspire current employees while attracting new talent. 
  • Drive voice and tone standards across written communications, ensuring consistency across internal touchpoints. 
  • Support change management and transformation initiatives through thoughtful, structured change management communication protocols and communications that build clarity, trust, and alignment. 
  • Collaborate with designers and producers to translate written content into compelling visual, video, and multimedia assets. 
  • Support real-time issues, crisis communications, and fast-moving developments with sound judgment and a risk-aware lens. 

About You 

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, marketing, business, or a related field. 
  • 10+ years of experience across editorial, corporate communications, content strategy, or related roles. 
  • Proven ability to work directly with senior leaders and executives, including drafting or ghostwriting executive communications. 
  • Strong editorial judgment with the ability to simplify complex, technical information without losing accuracy or nuance. 
  • Experience supporting organizational change, major initiatives, or moments of heightened sensitivity through clear and effective communications. 
  • Highly organized, self-directed, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Natural collaborator with a proactive mindset and strong sense of ownership. 

Nice to Haves  

  • Experience in aerospace, advanced manufacturing, technology, or other engineering-led industries. 
  • Familiarity with internal communications platforms, intranets, or knowledge management systems. 
  • Experience with multimedia storytelling including video, presentations, or interactive content. 
  • Comfort using analytics to inform content performance and channel strategy.
