Job description

Come join our Communications team

Our Communications team is committed to sharpening how the market understands Karat; we build the channels, campaigns, and executive presence that position Karat as the definitive measure of talent.

What you will do

As an External Communications Lead at Karat, you will serve as the dedicated PR and communications partner to our CEO, executing an external communications strategy that reinforces Karat's position as an innovative leader in technical interviewing and workforce intelligence.

This is a part-time (20 hours per week), individual contributor role working closely with Karat's CEO and other seasoned communications leaders. Working hours/schedule will need to be consistent and overlap with executives in the Greater Seattle Area.

  • Serve as the CEO's trusted communications advisor, shaping strategy and channel decisions that carry across the whole company.
  • Own Karat's media presence end to end, securing and converting press, podcast, and broadcast interest into coverage as the single point of contact.
  • Architect campaigns that put Karat's thought leadership, corporate milestones, and product launches in front of the industry and customers.
  • Build and run the CEO's public platform, from LinkedIn to the company blog to third-party bylines.
  • Ghostwrite the words that get said out loud: talking points, bylines, keynote content, and full media and speaking prep for the CEO.
  • Set the CEO's speaking strategy, deciding which stages are worth Karat's time and landing the ones that matter.
  • Run point on our PR agency, holding the partnership accountable to outcomes, not just activity.
The experience you will bring
  • 12+ years of communications experience spanning PR, media relations, and executive communications, including in-house time at a high-growth tech or B2B company
  • A track record of securing earned media and building executive platforms for senior leaders
  • Experience ghostwriting for executives, with sharp editorial judgment and storytelling instincts
  • A history of developing narratives and campaigns that break through with target audiences
  • Experience managing PR agency partners to measurable outcomes
  • Comfort coaching executives for media interviews, external events, and employee-facing meetings
  • A self-starting, proactive approach, with the ability to operate independently across parallel workstreams
  • B2B communications experience with exposure to CIO/CTO audiences and developer technologies, a plus
