Job description

About Us

HoskBrew, LLC is an independent e-commerce shop dedicated to crafting immersive gaming experiences, spanning video games, video game parts and tabletop roleplaying games (TTRPGs). We are expanding our team to bring deep, engaging lore, rich world-building, and tightly designed mechanics to our upcoming projects. If you live and breathe tabletop gaming and have a passion for structured storytelling, we want you in our team.

Job Summary

We are seeking a talented, highly collaborative, and deeply knowledgeable TTRPG Creative Writer to join our team on-site in Gillette, WY. In this role, you will be responsible for developing longform campaigns, weaving expansive world lore, and writing mechanical content that fits cleanly into established TTRPG rule systems.

The ideal candidate possesses a rare blend of wild creative imagination and strict technical discipline—someone who can dream up an entire pantheon but also write a flawless, mechanically balanced stat block to spec.

Key Responsibilities
  • World-Building & Narrative Design: Conceptualize and draft rich settings, factions, NPCs, histories, and storylines for TTRPG modules and sourcebooks.

  • Campaign Development: Design, structure, and write compelling, longform campaigns and adventures.

  • Writing to Spec & Art Collaboration: Author content adhering to strict internal style guides and project briefs. Create highly detailed art descriptions to guide our team of illustrators and visual artists.

  • System Mechanics: Write and balance rules, mechanics, items, and encounter designs compatible with popular TTRPG systems.

  • Print-Ready Structuring: Format and structure text with a keen understanding of print layouts, column constraints, and page budgets.

  • Editing & Quality Assurance: Proofread and edit internal copy, ensuring impeccable grammar, spelling, structural consistency, and tone.

  • Cross-Team Collaboration: Work closely with project leads, artists, and other writers. Actively participate in brainstorming sessions and constructively implement creative direction and feedback.

Qualifications & Requirements
  • System Expertise: Strong, deeply ingrained familiarity with the Pathfinder and Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) rules systems.

  • Proven Track Record: Published works within the TTRPG space (indie, community creator, or major publisher).

  • Campaign Experience: Demonstrated experience creating, structuring, and running complex, longform campaigns.

  • Technical & Creative Skill: Superior prose writing skills balanced with technical precision; ability to switch effortlessly between narrative flavor text and dry rule mechanics.

  • Layout Aptitude: A solid understanding of how writing interacts with book layout design. Direct experience with layout software (e.g., InDesign) or formatting is a massive plus.

  • Attention to Detail: Exceptional self-editing skills, keeping an eye out for consistency in both grammar and mechanical syntax.

  • In-Office Reliability: This is a strictly on-site, in-office position in Gillette, Wyoming. Candidates must be local or willing to relocate.

Application Requirements

To be considered for this position, applicants must provide:

  1. A current resume outlining your TTRPG background.

  2. Finished work examples (e.g., links to published PDFs, books, or community titles).

  3. Writing samples showcasing both your creative world-building/lore and technical mechanics or art descriptions.
