At Chick-fil-A, the Back of House Manager role is more than just a job; it’s a leadership opportunity. In addition to working directly for an independent Owner/Operator, BOH Managers play a critical role in developing people, executing operational excellence, and protecting the Chick-fil-A brand through high food quality, speed, accuracy, and safety standards.

Back of House Managers are responsible not only for food production, but for leading, coaching, and holding the kitchen team accountable while ensuring every guest receives the consistent, high-quality experience Chick-fil-A is known for.

Back of House Manager Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead BOH shifts with confidence, presence, and urgency
  • Coach, train, and develop BOH Team Members and Shift Assistants
  • Set expectations and model professionalism, communication, and Chick-fil-A culture
  • Hold team members accountable to food safety, speed, accuracy, and cleanliness standards
  • Support onboarding, training, and development across all BOH positions

Operations & Execution

  • Ensure food is prepared, cooked, assembled, and served safely, accurately, and efficiently
  • Maintain strong, clear communication with FOH leadership
  • Manage shift flow, positioning, and staffing during peak and non-peak hours
  • Drive speed of service, food quality, and order accuracy
  • Support food cost control, waste awareness, and inventory organization
  • Oversee all BOH stations, including breading, fries, boards, and prep

Food Safety & Standards

  • Enforce Chick-fil-A food safety and cleanliness standards at all times
  • Ensure proper use of kitchen equipment and promptly report maintenance issues
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and inspection-ready kitchen
  • Stay up to date with new products, procedures, and system changes

Administrative & Accountability

  • Complete opening, closing, and shift leadership responsibilities
  • Participate in leadership meetings, training, and performance conversations
  • Model reliability, ownership, and sound decision-making under pressure
  • Collaborates with Director and Executive Director of Operations

Preferred Experience & Qualifications
  • Strong preference for candidates with prior Chick-fil-A experience
  • Applicants with Chick-fil-A experience must be able to provide a referral or reference from their previous Operator or senior leadership
  • Candidates without Chick-fil-A experience will still be considered, but must have:
  • At least three verified professional references
  • Demonstrated experience in hospitality, kitchen operations, and people leadership
  • A proven track record of leading teams in fast-paced, high-expectation environments
  • Must provide a resume and 2 references at time of application
