What is an event?

Events jobs refer to roles involved in planning, organizing, and executing gatherings such as conferences, weddings, concerts, festivals, and corporate meetings. These jobs can include event coordinators, planners, managers, and support staff. Professionals in this field handle logistics, budgeting, vendor relations, marketing, and on-site management to ensure events run smoothly. Successful events professionals are detail-oriented, organized, and able to work under pressure to meet client expectations.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an event coordinator?

To thrive as an Event Coordinator, you need strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and experience in event planning, often supported by a relevant degree or certification. Familiarity with event management software, budgeting tools, and project management systems is typically required. Outstanding communication, problem-solving abilities, and adaptability help you excel in client relations and manage last-minute changes. These skills ensure seamless event execution, client satisfaction, and the ability to handle high-pressure situations effectively.

What are some common challenges faced by event coordinators, and how can they be managed effectively?

Event coordinators often face challenges such as last-minute changes, tight deadlines, and managing multiple vendors or stakeholders simultaneously. To manage these effectively, strong organizational skills, clear communication, and contingency planning are essential. Building good relationships with suppliers and maintaining detailed checklists can help ensure smooth execution, even when unexpected issues arise. Flexibility and the ability to stay calm under pressure are also critical in delivering successful events.

What is the difference between Events vs Event Coordinators?

Are event jobs in high demand?

Event jobs are generally in demand during peak seasons such as holidays, festivals, and conferences, as organizations seek temporary staff for planning and execution. Skills in customer service, organization, and familiarity with event management tools can improve job prospects, but demand can fluctuate based on economic conditions and industry trends.

Are event jobs stressful?

Event jobs can be stressful due to tight deadlines, long hours, and the need to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Successful event staff often require strong organizational skills and the ability to work under pressure, especially during peak times or large-scale events.

Job description

At Epting Events, we believe every celebration is a story waiting to be told. We’re looking for a dedicated Event Manager to step into the spotlight and help us bring those stories to life. As our boots-on-the-ground leader, you’ll be the face of Epting for our clients, ensuring that every detail—from the first fork set to the final toast—is handled with our signature Southern hospitality and effortless professionalism.

You’ll be the bridge between our sales, warehouse, and kitchen teams, turning blueprints into reality. If you’re a natural leader who thrives on the energy of a live event and keeps a cool head when the stakes are high, we want to meet you.

The Role: What You’ll Do
  • Lead the Charge: Orchestrate the production team across various events, keeping your eye on the prize: an unforgettable experience for our guests.

  • The Huddle: Collaborate with the Sales team to dive deep into event details and nail those "must-have" moments.

  • Master the Logistics: Review timelines and equipment sheets with a fine-toothed comb to ensure nothing is left behind.

  • Gear Up: Prep catering equipment and coordinate with our Executive Chef and kitchen crew to get the feast (and the gear) safely to its destination.

  • On-Site General: Captain our catering crew during the event, leading by example and keeping the floor moving smoothly.

  • The Lifestyle: Embrace the rhythm of the industry—evenings and weekends are where the magic happens.

The Perfect Fit

We’re looking for someone who doesn’t just manage, but inspires. The ideal candidate brings:

  • Experience: A proven track record in management and supervision.

  • Wit & Wisdom: The ability to think on your feet and solve problems before the client even notices them.

  • Heart & Hustle: A self-starter attitude with a genuine desire to grow within our company.

  • The Basics: A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are a must.

Ready to set the table? Compensation is competitive and based on the experience you bring to the party.
