What is an event?

Events jobs refer to roles involved in planning, organizing, and executing gatherings such as conferences, weddings, concerts, festivals, and corporate meetings. These jobs can include event coordinators, planners, managers, and support staff. Professionals in this field handle logistics, budgeting, vendor relations, marketing, and on-site management to ensure events run smoothly. Successful events professionals are detail-oriented, organized, and able to work under pressure to meet client expectations.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an event coordinator?

To thrive as an Event Coordinator, you need strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and experience in event planning, often supported by a relevant degree or certification. Familiarity with event management software, budgeting tools, and project management systems is typically required. Outstanding communication, problem-solving abilities, and adaptability help you excel in client relations and manage last-minute changes. These skills ensure seamless event execution, client satisfaction, and the ability to handle high-pressure situations effectively.

What are some common challenges faced by event coordinators, and how can they be managed effectively?

Event coordinators often face challenges such as last-minute changes, tight deadlines, and managing multiple vendors or stakeholders simultaneously. To manage these effectively, strong organizational skills, clear communication, and contingency planning are essential. Building good relationships with suppliers and maintaining detailed checklists can help ensure smooth execution, even when unexpected issues arise. Flexibility and the ability to stay calm under pressure are also critical in delivering successful events.

Description
Create Experiences They'll Never Forget.
Lead unforgettable events. Inspire incredible connections. Help us create moments that matter.
Who We Are
At Stampin' Up!, we believe life's best moments are the ones we create together.
For more than 35 years, we've helped people around the world connect through creativity, celebrate life's milestones, and build meaningful communities. Whether it's a world-class convention, an incentive trip that recognizes achievement, or a virtual event that brings thousands together, every experience we create is designed with one purpose: putting people first.
We're passionate about creating events that leave attendees inspired long after they return home. That takes imagination, strategy, collaboration, and a whole lot of heart.
If you're energized by bringing big ideas to life, thrive in fast-moving environments, and believe every detail contributes to an unforgettable experience, we'd love to meet you.
Senior Events Specialist
This isn't your typical event planning role.
As our Senior Events Specialist, you'll help shape some of Stampin' Up!'s largest global experiences. Anything from large-scale conventions and incentive trips to virtual and hybrid events that connect demonstrators around the world.
You'll serve as both strategist and executor, balancing visionary ideas with operational excellence to create experiences that delight attendees while achieving business objectives. You'll partner across departments, mentor teammates, negotiate with vendors, analyze event performance, and lead event execution from early planning through the final load-out.
You'll be trusted to own complex projects, navigate changing priorities with confidence, and continually look for ways to make every event even better than the last.
If you're someone who loves solving complex puzzles, leading with optimism, and visualizing and creating extraordinary experiences that people talk about for years, you'll fit right in.
What You'll Do
  • Lead the strategy, planning, and execution of large-scale live, virtual, and hybrid events.
  • Plan and execute global conventions, incentive trips, leadership events, and other high-impact experiences.
  • Create exceptional attendee experiences while balancing timelines, budgets, and business objectives.
  • Build strong partnerships across departments to ensure seamless collaboration and execution.
  • Mentor and coach fellow event team members while helping elevate team processes and best practices.
  • Lead vendor selection, contract negotiations, and partner relationships.
  • Direct large teams during event setup, execution, and teardown.
  • Manage multiple complex projects with overlapping timelines and competing priorities.
  • Analyze event performance using attendee feedback and event data to identify opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Champion operational excellence while continuously improving processes, systems, and event experiences.

Requirements
What Makes You Successful
You're equal parts creative visionary and operational powerhouse.
You know how to dream big while staying grounded in budgets, logistics, and business goals. You thrive in environments where no two days look the same. Shifting priorities don't throw you off, they motivate you.
You're someone who naturally builds trust, communicates with confidence, and enjoys bringing people together around a shared vision.
You likely bring:
  • 5-8+ years of experience leading large-scale conventions, conferences, corporate events, or incentive travel programs.
  • Demonstrated success planning complex, high-profile events from concept through execution.
  • Strategic thinking with the ability to see both the big picture and every important detail.
  • Outstanding communication and collaboration skills across all levels of an organization.
  • Strong negotiation and vendor management experience.
  • Experience partnering with cross-functional stakeholders and executive leadership.
  • A data-driven approach to measuring success and improving future events.
  • Exceptional organization and operational planning skills.
  • An adaptable mindset with the ability to pivot quickly while maintaining a positive attitude.
  • An ownership mentality. You proactively identify challenges, solve problems, and follow through.
  • Experience with Cvent, virtual event platforms, and contract negotiations.
  • Ability to travel approximately 50 days annually.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand or walk for extended periods during events.

A Few Truths About This Role
Let's be real, creating unforgettable events isn't always glamorous.
Some days you'll be brainstorming the next incredible attendee experience. Other days you'll be solving last-minute logistics, juggling multiple priorities, reviewing budgets, negotiating contracts, or adjusting plans because something unexpected changed.
Success in this role means balancing creativity with business realities, elevating attendee experiences while staying within budget guidelines, embracing continuous change, and remaining calm when the pace accelerates.
If you enjoy solving problems, collaborating with talented people, and turning challenges into exceptional experiences, you'll love this role.
Why You'll Love Working Here
Here are just a few of the perks we offer:
  • A wicked-awesome benefits package (go ahead and compare)
  • A Friday dress code every day of the week (dust off those jeans)
  • Extreme crafting experiences (totally optional...but we think you'll love them)
  • Paid personal time off...like, a lot of it (because work-life balance matters)
  • Tuition assistance and a 401(k) with company match (future you says thanks)

Most importantly, you'll join a team that genuinely cares about creating events and memories that last a lifetime!
Ready to Create Something Unforgettable?
If you're excited by the idea of leading world-class conventions, unforgettable incentive trips, and experiences that inspire thousands of people around the globe, we'd love to hear from you.
Bring your creativity.
Bring your strategy.
Bring your ownership mindset.
Together, let's create experiences that people will never forget.
This position starts at $76,000, depending on experience.
