The Event Manager is a key member of UnitedHealth Group's Enterprise Events Management team, responsible for leading the planning and execution of internal, external, and executive level events. This role owns events end to end event planning, ensuring flawless delivery, alignment with enterprise brand standards, and a consistent, high quality attendee experience.

The Event Manager operates with a high level of independence, serving as the primary event owner and strategic partner to business stakeholders. Success in this role requires strong project management skills, confidence navigating a highly matrixed organization, and the ability to manage multiple complex events simultaneously with minimal oversight. This position requires the ability to work in a fast paced environment with a desire to drive successful and productive outcomes on a consistent basis.

This position is full time (40 hours/week), Monday - Friday. Employees are required to have flexibility to work any of our 8 hour shift schedules during normal business hours of 8:00 am - 5:00pm, with occasional early mornings, evenings, or travel based on event needs.

We offer 4 weeks of on-the-job training. The hours of training will be aligned with your schedule.

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Own end to end event planning and execution for assigned events, including internal meetings, client events, executive programs, and enterprise initiatives. 
  • Serve as the primary event lead, independently managing logistics, timelines, budgets, vendors, and on site execution. 
  • Partner with business stakeholders to understand event goals, objectives, and success metrics, translating them into effective event strategies. 
  • Lead collaboration with internal teams (marketing, communications, legal, finance, IT, facilities, security, etc.) to ensure alignment with brand, compliance, and corporate standards. 
  • Provide on site leadership and real time decision making during event execution, resolving issues independently as they arise. 
  • Manage vendor relationships, including sourcing, contracting support, performance management, and cost control. 
  • Utilize event technology platforms (e.g., Cvent) for registration, reporting, communications, and onsite tools to deliver a seamless attendee experience. 
  • Provide direction to supporting roles (e.g., Event Specialists, Attendee Managers) related to registration workflows, reporting, communications, and mobile app deployment. 
  • Oversee event budgets, forecasts, and invoice processing, ensuring fiscal responsibility and accurate financial reporting. 
  • Maintain accurate documentation, timelines, and reporting for historical reference and continuous improvement. 
  • Demonstrate flexibility and resilience in managing tight deadlines, shifting priorities, and complex stakeholder needs. 
  • Act as a representative of the Enterprise Events Management team, modeling professionalism, accountability, and strategic thinking.

Required Qualifications: 

  • High School Diploma/GED 
  • Must be 18 years of age OR older 
  • 3 years of experience planning and executing events in a corporate setting, with demonstrated ownership of events end to end 
  • 3 years of recent experience in a deadline driven environment, managing competing priorities and stakeholder expectations 
  • 2 years of hands on experience with Cvent or similar event management platforms 
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Teams) 
  • Ability to travel up to 2-3 times per month during peak event periods 
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time for on site event execution 
  • Flexibility to work any of our 8 hour shift schedules during normal business hours of 8:00 am - 5:00pm, with occasional early mornings, evenings, or travel based on event needs.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • CMP (Certified Meeting Professional) certification 
  • Experience in a strategic meeting management function within a Fortune 500 organization 
  • Experience managing event budgets and vendor contracts 
  • Experience with Adobe platforms (e.g., Workfront) 
  • Experience with Ariba and Concur

Telecommuting Requirements: 

  • Reside within commutable distance to the office at 1 Optum Circle, Eden Prairie, 55344.
  • Ability to keep all company sensitive documents secure (if applicable) 
  • Required to have a dedicated work area established that is separated from other living areas and provides information privacy. 
  • Must live in a location that can receive a UnitedHealth Group approved high-speed internet connection or leverage an existing high-speed internet service.

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you'll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from  $72,800 - $130,000 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
