Job description

The Receptionist is responsible for greeting and assisting visitors, answering phones, and performing general clerical work in support of Hospital patients and staff. This position must integrate company values into daily practice.

Evening Hours: Monday to Friday 5pm to 8pm

Essential Functions:

  • Greets visitors positively and professionally and maintains visitor registration logs.
  • Directs patients and visitors to appropriate parties and answers basic questions.
  • Answers telephone and correctly routes calls via phone or paging system.
  • Performs general clerical and data entry duties.
  • Ensures reception area is maintained and clean and provides a calm environment for visitors.
  • Communicates with appropriate staff during emergency situations and drills.
  • Provides an environment conducive to safety for patients, visitors, and staff. Assesses the risks for safety and implements appropriate precautions. Complies with appropriate and approved safety and Infection Prevention standards.
  • Maintains regular attendance in keeping with assigned work schedule.
  • Completes required trainings, as assigned.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to support overall effectiveness of the organization.


Minimum Job Requirements

Minimum Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • One year of receptionist experience in healthcare setting preferred.


Required Licenses, Certifications, and/or Documentation:

  • Must maintain acceptable driving record, current driver's license, and insurability.


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Demonstrates proficiency in MS Office software, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrates effective organizational and time management skills.
  • Demonstrates effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrates critical thinking skills.

Physical Requirements Over the Course of a Shift:

  • A significant amount of sitting for prolonged periods of time.
