At Burkland, we lead with our Core Purpose. We do this for both our clients and our employees. We believe that leaning on our Core Values (Fresh Perspectives, Exponential Value, Empathy, Trusted Partner) will lead to happy clients and happy employees.
We are a remote-first company with over 180 team members, more than 800 clients, and a culture built on doing meaningful work with people who genuinely care about helping our clients grow. Come build something with us!
The Role
Burkland Associates is looking for an ERP Implementation Specialist to join our Accounting & Finance practice. This is an individual contributor role for experienced ERP professionals who thrive on building scalable financial infrastructure for high-growth startups.
You will facilitate ERP implementations, configurations, and optimizations across our client base and work closely with founders, CFOs, and internal team members. Our current core platforms include NetSuite and Rillet, with exposure to other modern finance tools across the startup tech stack. This is a unique opportunity to bring deep ERP expertise to some of the most innovative companies in software, biotech, and beyond.
Your Typical, Atypical, Day
Implementation & Configuration - Own end-to-end ERP implementations for Burkland clients, including chart of accounts design, module configuration, workflow automation, and user acceptance testing. Document implementation decisions and maintain project trackers throughout each engagement.
System Assessment & Optimization - Evaluate existing ERP environments and identify gaps, inefficiencies, or misconfigurations. Recommend and execute improvements to reporting structures, dashboards, and custom workflows to align the system with each client's business model. Deliver training sessions, create user documentation, and proactively surface system improvements that align with client growth milestones
Accounting Operations & Close Support - Support the monthly close process within client ERP systems including journal entries, reconciliations, revenue recognition (ASC 606), and financial reporting. Ensure the system accurately reflects the client's accounting policies and audit requirements.
Integrations & Data Migration - Manage data migrations from legacy systems (QuickBooks, Xero, spreadsheets) into modern ERP platforms. Collaborate with tech and product teams to scope and oversee third-party integrations (Stripe, Brex, Ramp, Salesforce, etc.) using native automation tools or iPaaS solutions.
Process Improvement & Technology - Identify opportunities to streamline financial workflows through automation and cross-functional collaboration. Stay current with platform releases, best practices, and the evolving startup finance tech stack.
About You
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field
  • 3-5+ years of progressive ERP implementation or administration experience
  • Hands-on experience leading or supporting full-cycle ERP implementations (not just end-user experience)
  • Strong foundation in GAAP accounting, month-end close, and financial reporting
  • Ability to manage multiple client engagements simultaneously and reprioritize as needed
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills where you can translate technical system decisions into plain language for non-technical founders and finance teams
  • Self-directed and proactive: comfortable operating in ambiguous, fast-moving startup environments
  • Excited to support clients in SaaS, fintech, biotech, and other high-growth industries

Core Competencies
  • Hands-on experience with NetSuite and/or Rillet; familiarity with other modern ERP or accounting platforms is a plus
  • Experience with core ERP modules: GL, AR, AP, Fixed Assets, Multi-Book Accounting, Advanced Revenue Management, and/or similar equivalents across platforms
  • Familiarity with workflow automation, scripting, or integration tooling native to your platform(s) of expertise
  • Experience integrating ERP systems with SaaS billing, payroll, CRM, or expense tools
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel / Google Sheets for data analysis and reconciliation
  • ERP Administrator or Consultant certification preferred (NetSuite, Rillet, or equivalent)
  • CMA designation a bonus
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to zoom out and understand how system design decisions affect a client's financial reporting and investor readiness

What We Offer
  • Flexible work schedule to promote a healthy work-life balance
  • Medical, Dental & Vision Insurance for you and your dependents
  • Short & Long Term Disability Insurance to support you when you need it the most
  • Flexible PTO - Take time off when you need it
  • 401k with a company match to ensure you are ready for retirement
  • A generous home office expense reimbursement so you have the office you need to be productive
  • Forget the commute! We're a remote-first workplace, so you can work from your home office or from the beach, if you'd like!
  • A collaborative, communicative culture driven by our Core Purpose + Values. We work with incredibly smart people who love to learn and share what they know.
