We are currently seeking a collaborative and strategic Senior Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging Specialist to support and advance the firmโ€™s diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) initiatives through impactful programming, affinity and ally network engagement, and cross-functional partnership across the organization.

The ideal candidate is a proactive and relationship-driven professional with strong project management, communication, and organizational skills, as well as the ability to manage multiple initiatives independently in a fast-paced environment.

This position can be based in Cincinnati, OH; Columbus, OH; Dallas, TX; Houston, TX; Indianapolis, IN; Louisville, KY; Nashville, TN; Newark, NJ; or Washington, DC.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage assigned DEIB program portfolios, including heritage month programming, sponsorships, conferences, and firmwide DEIB events.
  • Lead implementation of DEIB programs and events by advising on objectives and format, coordinating logistics and communications, partnering with internal stakeholders and external organizations, and evaluating outcomes.
  • Maintain accountability for timelines, quality of execution, and internal coordination across assigned initiatives.
  • Serve as the primary DEIB partner for assigned affinity and ally networks, advising network leaders on goal setting, program design, governance practices, budgeting considerations, and alignment with firm priorities.
  • Provide consultative guidance to affinity and ally networks on programming, governance practices, consistency with firm standards, and sensitive DEIB related considerations.
  • Track, analyze, and report on key affinity and ally network metrics, including engagement, participation, and budget utilization, and prepare summaries for DEIB leadership.
  • Collaborate with Marketing to develop DEIB specific program communications, ensuring clarity, consistency, and alignment with firm messaging.
  • Represent the firm at external DEIB conferences, industry events, and professional forums, including preparing and delivering presentations, facilitating discussions, and sharing insights to advance the firmโ€™s DEIB objectives and external presence.
  • Partner with Legal Talent and Human Resources to support DEIB related materials such as internal communications and onboarding resources.
  • Partner with the Culture and Engagement Manager to ensure alignment between DEIB initiatives and broader firm culture and engagement efforts.
  • Support the firmโ€™s participation in DEIB surveys, benchmarking initiatives, and certifications by coordinating cross functional data collection, preparing draft submissions, and developing analytical summaries for review and final approval by DEIB leadership.
  • Prepare program level metrics and reports that inform DEIB initiatives and support firmwide reporting led by DEIB and Culture & Engagement leadership.
  • Provide substantive DEIB content support for selected sponsorships and RFP responses, in coordination with appropriate firm stakeholders.
  • In coordination with DEIB leadership, partner with firm committees to advance cross functional initiatives and support consistent execution of DEIB priorities.
  • Conduct research on law firm and professional services DEIB trends and best practices, synthesizing findings into recommendations or program enhancements for DEIB leadership.
  • Identify program level gaps, risks, or opportunities and elevate strategic considerations to DEIB leadership as appropriate.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelorโ€™s Degree is required.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in the DEIB field; preferably within a law firm, with demonstrated experience operating with a high level of independence and judgment.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, and related tools.
  • Strong interpersonal, cross-cultural, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization and engage thoughtfully with individuals from diverse backgrounds and experiences.

  • Demonstrated self-motivation, adaptability, and creative problem-solving skills, with the ability to effectively prioritize competing responsibilities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work over 40 hours per week and travel as needed across the firmโ€™s national footprint. Weekend travel may be required from time to time (estimate is 25-30%).

The pay range for this role accounts for the wide range of factors considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. For applicants physically based in Newark or Washington DC, a reasonable estimate of the current annual range is $88,000 - $100,000. Actual pay will be determined based on skills, relevant experience and other job-related factors, consistent with applicable employment laws.
