The Director of Operations, 3PL is responsible for the effective management and leadership of the assigned distribution and warehouse operations, ensuring quality and customer excellence in a 3PL environment. Director of Operations, 3PL will take the lead in planning and execution of all distribution activities and direct the management team responsible for the different areas of the operations. The Director, 3PL Distribution Operations develops and manages a defined business plan that ensures the achievement of company objectives, as they relate to service level agreements (SLAs) and operational performance, within budget and according to policies, procedures and legal compliance requirements. The Director, 3PL Operations is also responsible for developing and managing relationships with internal and external customers and collaborating with logistics teams in formulating distribution strategy in current, and future demand situations.
Onsite role based out of our Charlestown, Indiana location.
Responsibilities
  • Ensure adherence to cGMP's, OSHA, PDMA and DEA regulatory requirements, company SOPs, and client business requirements.
  • Provide leadership in coaching, mentoring, personnel selection, professional development and oversight of operations management within company policies.
  • Promote a positive work environment based on team dynamics, mutual respect, customer excellence, and adherence to the organization's stated principles and values - CHART.
  • Evaluate, enhance, and scale all operational processes to facilitate efficiencies, increasing volumes, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure established SLAs are achieved in all applications such as: receiving, returns, cold chain, order picking, and shipping.
  • Ensure the coordination of activities between departments such as: Professional Services, Quality Assurance, Inventory, Scheduling, and Print across all facilities to meet the Knipper vision of speed to market.
  • Establish operational goals in support of Company's strategic plan, communicate goals throughout area of responsibility, track performance against established goals, and mentor staff to acceptable levels of achievement.
  • Ensure all direct reports have clearly defined roles and responsibilities.
  • Monitor employee performance to ensure maximum utilization of resources.
  • Develop, publish, and refine performance metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of daily operations.
  • Responsible for overall management of assigned operations to include:
    1. Proper staffing levels are effectively deployed and maintained to meet financial and client targets.
    2. Appropriate receiving and storage of inventory in the facility including Rx product, refrigerated product and controlled substances.
    3. Timely and orderly coordination and handing of inbound, outbound, and return shipments.
    4. Perform routine audits to ensure standard operating procedure (SOP) compliance.
    5. Adhere to all training and safety requirements, controls and communications.
    6. Partner with Facility Management in ownership of facility security.
  • Evaluate effectiveness of current SOPs and make changes where necessary in compliance with cGMP, OSHA, and operations support.
  • Promote cooperation, teamwork and open communication company-wide by supporting all internal customers.
  • Measure, maintain, and update department dashboards and goals.
  • Ensure facilities are showcase ready and conduct client tours, as needed.
  • Track trends and report to executive leadership.

Qualifications
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field
  • Five (5) years of experience in a senior leadership role
  • Seven (7) years of experience managing teams within a complex integrated materials handling environment
  • Ten (10) years of experience in an inventory/warehouse environment
  • Experience in WMS setup and system utilization
  • Experience working within a regulated industry
  • Experience with serialization requirements

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Master's Degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field
  • Pharma industry experience
  • TQM and/or Six Sigma process experience

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent communication skills including but not limited to documentation, presentation, and training meeting facilitation
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organization skills and detail oriented
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent technical skills to include Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power-Point and Outlook) and supply chain information systems
