POSITION DESCRIPTION

Position: Mechanical Engineer DESIGNER


PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

The Candidate must be able to apply sound knowledge of mechanical engineering principles and practices in a broad array of assignments. principles and practices in a broad array of assignments.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Act independently regarding architectural methods and complexities
  • Responsible for project and proposal quality and schedule.
  • Perform normal and complex aspects of mechanical engineering.
  • Consults with supervisor for assignments and for direction with engineering complexities
  • Coordinates and reviews work with in-house and consulting architects , engineers and contractors.
  • Carries out drafting and design assignments and assists Project Engineer, Mechanical / Electrical Engineer

with project tasks

  • Performs Field Surveys
  • Ensures accuracy and timeliness of finished drawings
  • Ensures drawings comply with company standard details and drawing practices

POSITION REQUIREMENTS


EDUCATION:

  • Bachelorโ€™s Degree in Engineering


CERTIFICATION:

  • Professional registration required โ€“ Illinois licensed PE
  • LEED accredited professional is preferred


EXPERIENCE:

  • This is an entry-level position
  • Minimum of one year of experience.
  • Experience with mechanical building systems and energy conservation for government, commercial and

industrial facilities

  • Experience with engineering deliverables such as: mechanical equipment sizing and system sizing

calculations, material takeoffs, mechanical layout and detail drawing


KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Proficient in Auto CAD
  • Experience with REVIT is a plus
  • Effective communication and organizational skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point)
  • Demonstrated engineering design efforts from concept through project closeout.
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Accurate attention to detail
