Job description

HI TECH HONEYCOMB, INCROLL OPERATOR 1 

DEPARTMENT:                  Production

REPORT TO:                       Production Supervisor

FLSA:                                     Non-exempt

SUMMARY

The Roll Operator I at Hi Tech Honeycomb is an entry level role that is designed for learning and growth. This position offers the opportunity to learn what rolling honeycomb entails and how to use the roll station/ work center to ensure the width of the honeycomb is within tolerance.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The role involves learning under the guidance of the Production Supervisor/Mentor, with responsibilities outlined as follows. Additional tasks may be given to enhance learning and skill development as required.

  • Ability to complete basic adjustments or operation of a slip roller, conduct roller set-up under supervision and successfully roll small segments at slow speeds.
  • Interpret travelers/customer order, sketches and material specifications to verify required dimensions (width, height, radius) and quality requirements (flatness, bowing/concave, squareness).
  • Ability to produce honeycomb segments to dimensions with tolerances greater than 0.020”; heights between 0.100”-0.300”, widths less than 0.750”, .003-gauge thickness.
  • Ability to rework and repair regular honeycomb segments by size and grow HC width if needed, reworking some bowing, concave, out of square conditions.
  • Other duties as needed

  • EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Manufacturing experience is preferred 

  • MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide

  • REASONING ABILITY                      

                Ability to understand and apply common sense to carry out instructions written in oral or diagram form

PREFERRED SKILLS

Experience with calipers, protractors, and inspection tools/equipment

Familiarity with travelers and sketches

Familiarity with calibration labels for tools
