What are some common challenges faced by entry-level operations managers, and how can they overcome them?

Entry-level operations managers often face challenges such as adapting to fast-paced environments, managing conflicting priorities, and learning to lead teams with diverse backgrounds. Navigating these challenges typically involves developing strong organizational skills, effective communication, and seeking mentorship from experienced colleagues. Proactively asking questions and being open to feedback can accelerate growth and help new managers build confidence in their decision-making abilities.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Entry Level Operations Manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Entry Level Operations Manager, you need a solid understanding of business processes, analytical thinking, and a bachelor's degree in business, management, or a related field. Job description

Overview:

Join the Corporate Reorganization team within Wealth & Institutional Services and play a critical role in supporting corporate actions for publicly traded securities held in trust accounts. This team is responsible for processing complex corporate events such as mergers, acquisitions, and restructurings, ensuring client holdings are accurately converted and aligned with market activity. These transactions directly support global capital markets partners, where timeliness and precision are essential to avoid disruptions to investment activity and financial outcomes. This is an entry-level opportunity designed for individuals who are eager to build a career in financial services operations. The role offers a structured learning path, beginning with foundational tasks and progressing into more complex transaction processing as expertise grows.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process and reconcile corporate actions, including mandatory events such as mergers, restructurings, and entitlement postings to client accounts

  • Interpret and validate data from internal systems and external vendors to ensure accuracy of client holdings and transaction activity

  • Perform account balancing, suspense reconciliation, and exception research to resolve discrepancies

  • Support high-volume, detail-oriented transaction processing across cash, securities, and asset movements

  • Complete independent verification of transactions processed by team members to ensure accuracy and control integrity

  • Monitor shared team inboxes to manage incoming requests, prioritize work, and meet service level expectations

  • Assist in processing class actions and other corporate event-related activities tied to client holdings

  • Identify, escalate, and help resolve risk, compliance, or control issues in accordance with regulatory and internal standards

  • Contribute to process improvement efforts to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and client experience

Day-to-Day Work Environment:

In this role, you will work within a fast-paced, transaction-driven environment focused on accuracy and timeliness. Daily responsibilities include processing large volumes of financial transactions, performing detailed data entry within internal systems, and ensuring internal records align with external custodial data. The role involves working with legacy platforms that require time and training to master, making it well-suited for individuals who are comfortable learning new systems and developing technical expertise over time. Success in this role requires strong attention to detail, adaptability, and the ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
