Junior Network Technician - West Point Military Academy
Oneida Technical Solutions (OTS)
Schedule: Weekdays only (0600-2400 coverage). Primary shift: 0800-1630 Alternate shift coverage as needed: 0600-1430 or evenings (includes $3/hour shift differential after 6 PM). Pay Type: Hourly, eligible for overtime and night differential. Weekends: No weekend coverage. Holidays: Federal holidays off.

We are seeking a Junior Network Technician to join our team at West Point Military Academy, supporting daytoday operational tasks alongside the OTS team and the Network Operations Branch.
Position Overview
The Junior Network Technician will provide hands-on support for network operations, equipment deployment, structured cabling, troubleshooting, and basic help desk functions. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for candidates looking to grow their networking experience in a dynamic and mission-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with installing, testing, and maintaining network infrastructure.
  • Support network engineers in deploying and sustaining physical and logical network components.
  • Perform structured cabling tasks, hardware installation, equipment configuration, and connectivity troubleshooting.
  • Assist with placement and preconfiguration of infrastructure components.
  • Move and transport equipment, racks, and related materials as needed.
  • Provide basic network support for user requests within the Halo ticketing system.
  • Deploy equipment such as switches, access points, and UPS units.
  • Follow established procedures and processes provided by management or lead engineers.
  • Perform cable dressing, labeling, and documentation.
  • Track and communicate task status to management or engineering leads.
  • Work under direct supervision with opportunities to learn and grow.

Desired Qualifications
  • GED with 1-2 years of relevant onthejob experience or a networkrelated Associate's degree.
  • Entry-level networking certification or equivalent experience (e.g., CompTIA Network+).
  • Basic knowledge of:
