This role is responsible for performing engineering analysis, designing and re-designing components, and supporting the development and integration of mechanical systems into both existing and new vehicle platforms.
The Senior Engineer will take ownership of assigned projects and technical workstreams, provide engineering and production support, collaborate with cross-functional teams and suppliers, and help guide less-experienced engineers, designers, and technicians.
This position requires a strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, hands-on problem-solving ability, and experience applying engineering practices to automotive, heavy-duty vehicle, mobile equipment, or similar complex mechanical systems.
Key Responsibilities
Mechanical Design & Development
  • Design and develop functional, reliable, and cost-effective mechanical components and systems for heavy-duty vehicles.
  • Perform engineering analysis and design or re-design components for integration into existing and new vehicle platforms.
  • Evaluate designs for performance, safety, reliability, manufacturability, and cost.
  • Perform engineering calculations and utilize analytical and mathematical methods to evaluate and optimize system and component performance.
  • Support the selection of appropriate parts, components, materials, and technologies based on engineering requirements.
  • Provide integration and execution support for vehicle and component design activities.
  • Develop solutions to moderately complex engineering problems using established engineering principles, standards, and practices.
Project & Technical Ownership
  • Take responsibility for assigned projects, components, or technical workstreams of limited to moderate complexity.
  • Manage multiple engineering projects and priorities as required.
  • Develop project plans, technical approaches, engineering analyses, and supporting documentation.
  • Maintain project documentation related to engineering analysis, research, testing, decisions, and historical records.
  • Communicate project status, technical findings, risks, and recommendations to engineering leadership and stakeholders.
  • Make sound engineering decisions based on analysis, available data, established practices, and business requirements.
CAD, Drawings & Engineering Documentation
  • Create, review, and maintain 3D CAD models, assemblies, layouts, engineering drawings, specifications, and Bills of Material (BOMs).
  • Ensure engineering designs and documentation comply with applicable company and industry standards.
  • Enforce proper use of engineering criteria, drawing standards, design practices, and documentation processes.
  • Support engineering changes and product updates through established engineering processes.
  • Prepare technical proposals, quotations, reports, presentations, and other engineering documentation.
Vehicle Integration & Production Support
  • Provide technical assistance and engineering support to manufacturing and production operations.
  • Investigate and resolve mechanical issues identified through production, testing, field performance, supplier feedback, or internal customers.
  • Analyze reported engineering issues and develop practical, effective corrective actions.
  • Support vehicle and component testing, validation, troubleshooting, and implementation activities.
  • Communicate technical issues and resolution status clearly to appropriate stakeholders.
  • Provide timely engineering support to help maintain production and business continuity.
