GREAT OPPORTUNITY AT A GROWING COMPANY!!!  

A full time position is available in a rapidly growing company started by industry veterans. This 3PL company serves as a broker of truck load freight for client shippers located throughout the USA. The position combines the duties of a Logistics Coordinator and Assistant to the full-time broker executives of the company.

POSITION SUMMARY
On the job training will be provided to establish a skill level to serve as a Logistics Coordinator for over the road trucks that pick up, secure and deliver freight, product and/or commodities of the shipper customer to designated destinations nation-wide. Responsibilities include securing carriers, negotiating rates and tracking performance. Utilizing company software and direct contact, the Coordinator will track, record and monitor load movement and any special requirements, keeping senior management informed by personal communications, e-mail and formatted reporting systems.
The Administrative Assistant portion of the job will include collecting information, data entry, performing assigned tasks, and otherwise offering support services to the office. Direct customer contact as well as contact with vendors, suppliers and others will be an important part of the position. Salary to be determined.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Negotiate for and engage trucks in a profitable and efficient manner.
  • Regularly and accurately make timely entries into the operating system of load status, costs and freight audit information as required by the company and clients.
  • Perform immediate follow up and reporting to management of any exception to company practices, procedures or problems encountered both with shippers and carriers.
  • By using available industry tools and relationships, verify and qualify potential carriers, under the supervision of management.
  • Make clear communication of service expectations to all carriers utilized, initially under the direct supervision of management.
  • Consistently follow up to ensure that loads are moving according to schedule and customers’ expectations.
  • Perform assigned administrative and other tasks or duties as requested by management.

ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education: B.A., B.S. or equivalent – logistics focus, business or accounting preferred
Experience: Entry level to three years

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Knowledge of business hardware and software use, including Excel, QuickBooks, Word, excellent writing and typing skills.
  • Decision making and problem solving skill sets.
  • Desire to learn and/or apply knowledge of how the industry and broker segments function in the U.S. system of independent trucking/shipper relationships – geographic knowledge a must.
  • Excellent communications skills, analytical skills and recognition of importance of customer expectations and adherence to company policies.
  • Reliability, punctuality and following of both customer and company schedules.

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Basic knowledge of the logistics system used in the movement of goods and commodities.
  • Basic knowledge of the Interstate Highway system and on-line resources available to research routes.

Pay: $45,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year - possibly more with experience/skills -- eligibility for monthly bonus and annual bonus pro-rated
