We are seeking a highly motivated Environmental Services Associate to join our team. As an Environmental Services Associate, you will play a critical role in ensuring a clean and safe environment for our patients, visitors, and staff. You will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of patient rooms, common areas, and clinical spaces. Your attention to detail and commitment to infection prevention will be essential in this role. Your work will directly impact the health and well-being of our patients and staff.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED is preferred

  • General/ Entry Level Position

Essential Functions:

  • Moves throughout the facility and performs the physical requirements needed to deliver environmental services as assigned.
  • Performs the manual and administrative responsibilities of this position according to hospital and department policy and procedure.
  • Works cooperatively with unit staff, physicians and ancillary departments.
  • Demonstrates commitment to Pomerene Hospital’s Values.
  • Delivers service that builds customer satisfaction.
  • Actively supports and encourages Primary Support Person (PSP) / Family presence in patient rooms and guest areas, with consent of patient. Maintains an environment that is clean, welcoming and conducive to PSP / Family visitation.
  • Must have efficiency in operating equipment in order to perform essential functions of the position.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Bathrooms: Cleans and disinfects all fixtures, floors, mirrors, windows, doors and walls as far as can be reached daily. Cleans higher areas as scheduled. Replenishes bathroom supplies.
  • Patient Rooms: Performs terminal cleaning procedures and prepares room for new occupants or concurrent cleaning procedures for rooms with long-term patients. Follows body substance precautions.
  • Fixtures, Horizontal Surfaces, Furnishings & Furniture: Dusts, damp wipes, spot cleans, washes, sanitizes/disinfects and polishes. Changes slipcovers, drapers, dividers, etc. Cleans/sanitizes shelves, ledges, vents, woodwork and window frames. Empties, cleans and relines wastebaskets. Straighten and rearrange furniture as needed. Cleans light fixtures.
  • Floors & Carpets: Sweeps, dry/wet mops, scrubs, sanitizes, disinfects, vacuums and occasional spot removal from carpeting and/or rugs.
  • Laundry: Performs various duties pertaining to waste removal and laundry which may include any or all of the following: filling linen carts and storage areas, transporting clean and dirty laundry as needed, stacking clean linen in closets, carts and/or storage areas.
  • Stairways: Spot cleans walls daily and washes as scheduled. Cleans floors.
  • Windows: Spot cleans surfaces between washings. Washes and sanitizes as scheduled.
  • End of Shift: Returns unused supplies to environmental utility room and/or environmental closets at the end of the shift. Takes mop heads, rags, etc. to the laundry. Cleans equipment used in performance of duties and stores it properly. Cleans and stores environmental carts. Transports trash to trash can.
  • Other Duties: Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Policies & Procedures: Maintains established hospital and department policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety, environmental and infection control. Demonstrates understanding of personal protection equipment when necessary.
  • Supplies & Area Conditions Notifies manager when supplies are low or when mechanical failures or negative conditions are observed in assigned areas.
