Job description

We are looking for those that can work any of the following shifts:

  • Monday through Friday 7a-3p
  • Monday through Friday 3p-11p
  • Saturday and Sunday 7a-7p
  • Saturday and Sunday 7p-7a

Job Summary and Qualifications

The Hospital Telephone Operator will operate a console telephone switchboard in order to relay incoming, outgoing and inter-facility calls, providing information to callers as appropriate.

Additional duties will include:

  • Performing various hospital communication duties such as overhead paging, beeper paging, monitoring alarms, gas levels and fire alarms, and alerting personnel of impending disasters, fires and codes notifying appropriate personnel as required. 
  • Training new hires, keeping resources updated, cleaning the work space, and all other duties deemed necessary by the management team. This is an entry-level position working under limited supervision. 
  • Work situations are basically routine and require strong communication skills, and a service oriented individual.
What qualifications you will need:
  • Basic reading comprehension required. 
  • Proficient in all Microsoft Office programs with at least a 30 words per minute speed.
  • Multiline telephone system or Call Center experience preferred. 
  • Healthcare experience preferred. 
  • Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
  • High School Graduate or GED is preferred.
  • Ability to perform calmly, competently and quickly in emergency situations required. 
  • Ability to fluently speak and understand English required.
