Job description

Job Characteristics The City of Eustis is seeking a trustworthy, responsible individual who, under general supervision, performs entry-level work involving the organization and direction of various city recreational activities and events. Although the employee is often physically removed from supervision, which affords a certain degree of independence, work is performed within the framework of pre-established lesson plans and activity guidelines. Examples of Machines, Tools and Equipment Used: Variety of recreational equipment such as balls, racquets, nets, game-sets; arts & crafts materials and supplies Supervision Received: As assigned Essential Job Functions Provides assistance in the direction of recreational activities such as sports, games, dancing, arts and crafts, nature activities and music; Assists with instruction on the various techniques, rules and regulations of team and individual sports, games and activities; Sets up and takes down all equipment before and after scheduled activities; Assists with the maintenance and inspection of all equipment; Maintains order, discipline and safety; Works various special events; Work week may include nights and weekends; Opens and locks recreational facilities.

Other Job Functions: Performs clean up and maintenance of recreational areas; Assists the City in the preparation for and aftermath of a major emergency such as a hurricane or other storm or disaster; Performs other related duties as required. Requirements Working Hours: Monday through Saturday between the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m

(rotating schedule), approximately 20 to 25 hours per week. Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: General knowledge of various recreational programs and activities; knowledge of the behavior and needs of children of a variety of age levels. Ability to deal with the general public of all ages tactfully and effectively; ability to develop positive interest in recreational activities; ability to remain at a city work shelter, before, during and after a hurricane or other storm or disaster, if asked.

Minimum Qualifications: No experience or training required. Experience in working with children desirable. Supplemental Information Salary Information: $14.00 per hour

Applicants should expect a starting salary of $14.00 per hour. Only applicants with the most job-related qualifications will be selected for interview and further consideration. Additional consideration may be given to applicants with more extensive education, training, or experience

Following a thorough background investigation, including a criminal history and driver's license check, the candidate will be given a conditional offer of employment. The final candidate will be required to pass a drug test and medical exam.
