What is an entry level front desk?

Entry level front desk jobs are positions typically found in offices, hotels, medical facilities, or other businesses where the primary role is to greet visitors, answer phones, and perform basic administrative tasks. People in these roles serve as the first point of contact for customers or clients, providing information, directing inquiries, and helping with check-ins or appointments. These jobs usually require good communication skills, a friendly attitude, and basic computer knowledge. Most entry level front desk positions do not require extensive experience or specialized education, making them accessible to those just starting their careers. They can also provide valuable experience and skills for advancement into more specialized administrative or customer service roles.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an entry level front desk associate, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Entry Level Front Desk Associate, you need strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and typically a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with office phones, scheduling software, and basic computer applications like Microsoft Office is common. Excellent communication, a friendly demeanor, and problem-solving abilities help create a positive first impression and efficiently address guest or client needs. These skills ensure smooth daily operations and contribute to overall customer satisfaction.

What are the most common challenges faced by entry-level front desk staff, and how can they be overcome?

Entry-level front desk staff often encounter challenges such as managing a high volume of inquiries, handling difficult guests or clients, and balancing multiple tasks simultaneously. To overcome these challenges, it is helpful to develop strong organizational skills, remain calm under pressure, and utilize clear communication. Many employers also provide training and support from more experienced team members, which helps new staff quickly build confidence and proficiency in their daily responsibilities.

Job description

GUEST CARE COORDINATOR
Rejuve Salon Spa, an Aveda Lifestyle Salon Carmel, IN Part-Time or Full-Time | $13 to $16 per hour (based on experience)
The first and last impression a guest has of Rejuve happens at the front of the house. Our Guest Care Coordinator sets the tone for the entire visit: the warm welcome at the door, the confident answer to a question, the seamless checkout, and the genuine goodbye that makes someone want to come back. This is not a fill-in job for whoever happens to be available. It is a professional hospitality role for someone who takes real pride in taking care of people.
Rejuve Salon Spa is an Aveda Lifestyle Salon in Carmel, Indiana. We exist to elevate lives by developing exceptional professionals who create remarkable experiences, for every guest, every team member, and every community we serve. Everything we do is guided by The Rejuve Way: we lead with intention, we create remarkable experiences, and we hold ourselves to a standard of professionalism our guests can feel. If that is the kind of team you want to be part of, keep reading.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We are looking for an experienced, polished professional, not an entry-level fill-in. The ideal candidate has spent time in a guest-facing role (hospitality, front desk, retail, or service) and knows how to carry themselves with warmth and composure. You are dependable, coachable, and you genuinely enjoy making people feel cared for. You take ownership of your work without being asked, and you are eager to keep learning: about our services, our Aveda products, and the craft of remarkable hospitality.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
  • Create a warm, intentional welcome for every guest, setting a positive tone from the moment they walk in.
  • Manage the guest experience at the front desk: scheduling appointments, handling bookings, and answering questions in person and over the phone with clarity and confidence.
  • Speak knowledgeably about our services, Aveda products, and membership and package options, helping guests choose what is right for them.
  • Offer thoughtful, personalized Aveda retail recommendations that extend the guest's results at home.
  • Guide guests through membership and package sign-ups, explaining the benefits with genuine enthusiasm.
  • Keep the salon pristine and welcoming: maintaining the front area, restocking retail shelves, laundering towels, and handling the small details that make luxury feel effortless.
  • Support the opening and closing of the salon, so every day begins and ends to the same standard.
  • Serve beverages and attend to each guest's comfort throughout their visit.
  • Partner closely with stylists and teammates so the day runs smoothly for everyone.
  • Assist with day-to-day operations: light bookkeeping, inventory, and tracking retail sales.

WHAT YOU BRING
  • Prior experience in a customer-facing or hospitality role where professionalism and reliability mattered. (Salon experience is a plus, not a requirement. The right attitude and work ethic matter most.)
  • A professional, polished presence paired with genuine, outgoing warmth.
  • Clear, articulate communication, both in person and over the phone.
  • A self-starter's initiative: you see what needs doing, and you do it.
  • Strong organization and attention to detail, even when the salon is busy.
  • A true team-first mindset, because at Rejuve, no one succeeds alone.
  • Enthusiasm for learning and growing: our products, our systems, and our standards.
  • Availability that includes Fridays and Saturdays, with a mix of morning and evening (open and close) shifts. Full-time and part-time schedules are available.

WHAT WE OFFER
  • Competitive pay ($13 to $16 per hour, based on experience), with opportunity for retail commission.
  • Paid time off and vacation for full-time team members.
  • 401(k) with company match.
  • Generous discounts on salon products and services.
  • Ongoing, paid continuing education to grow your skills and your career.
  • A supportive, professional team that genuinely invests in your development.

WHY REJUVE
At Rejuve, we believe remarkable experiences begin with remarkable professionals. We are not simply building a salon. We are building a community of people who elevate one another and take real pride in their work. If you are ready to bring your experience, your professionalism, and your passion for taking care of people to a team that will help you grow, we would love to meet you.
