Formulation Assistant – Research & Development

Position Summary

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Formulation Assistant to support the Research & Development (R&D) department within a fast-paced nutraceutical/pharmaceutical manufacturing environment. This role will assist with product development, sample preparation, formulation testing, ingredient handling, and laboratory documentation while supporting the development of new and existing products.

The ideal candidate will be organized, hands-on, eager to learn, and capable of working in a dynamic laboratory and manufacturing setting.

Location: Miramar, FL
Schedule: Monday – Friday | 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
Salary: $22/hr

Key Responsibilities

Formulation & Product Development Support

  • Assist the R&D and Formulation team in the development of new nutraceutical and pharmaceutical products.

  • Prepare samples, batches, and prototype formulations for testing and evaluation.

  • Accurately weigh and measure raw materials and ingredients according to formulation specifications.

  • Support formulation activities for tablets, capsules, powders, gummies, liquids, and other dosage forms.

  • Assist in conducting bench trials, product testing, and stability studies.

  • Help troubleshoot formulation and production-related issues during development stages.

Laboratory & Documentation Support

  • Maintain accurate laboratory records, formulation logs, batch records, and testing documentation.

  • Ensure all work is documented according to SOPs, cGMP guidelines, and company procedures.

  • Prepare and maintain laboratory solutions, samples, and materials as required.

  • Organize and maintain R&D samples, ingredients, and laboratory inventory.

  • Assist in preparing reports, spreadsheets, and formulation summaries.

Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Coordinate with Quality, Production, Purchasing, and Regulatory departments as needed.

  • Assist with ingredient sourcing, raw material evaluations, and vendor sample tracking.

  • Support pilot production runs and scale-up activities.

  • Ensure formulation information and specifications are communicated accurately across departments.

Compliance & Safety

  • Follow all cGMP, laboratory safety, and company compliance requirements.

  • Maintain clean and organized laboratory and work areas.

  • Properly handle chemicals, ingredients, and laboratory equipment according to safety guidelines.

  • Assist during audits, inspections, and quality reviews as needed.

Qualifications

  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Food Science, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or related scientific field preferred.

  • 1–2 years of experience in R&D, formulation, laboratory, manufacturing, or related environment preferred.

  • Basic knowledge of GMP, FDA, and laboratory safety practices.

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Basic math and computer skills.

  • Ability to follow formulas, specifications, and laboratory procedures accurately.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).

  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
