Job description

Are you a proactive and knowledgeable horticulturist with a meticulous eye for detail and exceptional time management skills? Myatt Landscaping & Construction is seeking someone like you to create and maintain a dynamic calendar of services for sound horticultural practices at our job sites. In this role, you will collaborate closely with Account Managers and work alongside crews to elevate and sustain plant materials to impeccable horticultural standards.

Responsibilities:

·        Collaborate with Account Managers and Installation Project Managers to lead crews in the meticulous care, maintenance, and installation of plant materials, ensuring adherence to rigorous horticultural standards.

·        Develop and maintain a strategic calendar of services based on a nuanced understanding of weather patterns, seasons, and specific plant types.

·        Facilitate the creation and implementation of training programs for employees, focusing on horticultural best practices, precise pruning techniques, and Integrated Pest Management (IPM).

·        Demonstrate expertise in the comprehensive care of trees, shrubs, perennials, and annual flowers, encompassing tasks such as pruning, deadheading, integrated pest management, mulching, fertilizing, and other seasonal activities, regardless of weather conditions.

·        Serve as a strong communicator, adept at engaging with the public, clients, and collaborating seamlessly with management teams and crews.

·        Safely operate and maintain all tools and equipment required for horticultural tasks.

Requirements:

·        An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Horticultural Science OR industry certification such as NCNLA Certified Plant Professional, coupled with a minimum of 2 years' experience in maintaining intricate horticultural gardens or landscapes.

·        Possession of an NC Pesticide Applicator’s License, or the ability to acquire one within 90 days of hire.

·        A valid NC Driver’s License with a clean record.

·        Proficiency in performing all aspects of seasonal care for properties, including pruning, weeding, mulching, pest management, hand watering, fertilization, flower installation and care, leaf removal, cleanup of trash and debris, snow and ice removal.

·        Excellent knowledge of pruning techniques for shrubs and small trees, encompassing structural, aesthetic, and corrective techniques based on season and plant type.

·        Strong working knowledge of integrated pest management techniques, including pest identification, beneficial insects, chemicals, non-chemical methods, sprayer calibration, and accurate record-keeping.

·        Ability to work in all weather conditions, demonstrating resilience in hot, cold, rainy, windy, and snowy weather.
