Job description

Position Summary:
We are seeking both entry-level and senior-level Field Services Technicians to support voting equipment operations for our customers. This role performs on-site installation, testing, repair, and training for election equipment, applying hands-on mechanical, electrical, and basic computer principles to diagnose issues and ensure optimal equipment performance. Comprehensive training will be provided to ensure technicians are fully prepared to support our equipment and customers successfully.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Develop an understanding of all hardware and software systems utilized by our elections equipment manufacturer. 
  • Perform installation and upgrades of election equipment, ongoing preventive maintenance, and comprehensive readiness testing of all election hardware and software components in accordance with established specifications and contractual requirements. 
  • Provide on-site troubleshooting, repair, and technical support for election equipment, addressing mechanical, electrical, and system-level issues to support ongoing operation. 
  • Complete assigned work orders and provides detailed documentation of all repairs, maintenance activities, and equipment condition. 
  • Manage equipment parts inventory with accuracy and security, ensuring timely return of defective components.  
  • Provide internal cross-training and deliver on-site customer training on the setup, operation, and care of election equipment.
Travel Requirements: 
This position requires weekly overnight travel to customers within our territory (North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, and Georgia) approximately eighty percent (80%) of the year. The position will report to our New Bern, North Carolina facility when not traveling.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with end-users, customers, and coworkers. 
  • Strong work ethic with precise attention to accuracy and detail. 
  • Ability to master and convey the mechanics of how our customers’ voting equipment functions from both a hardware and software perspective.  
  • Ability to apply learned knowledge to troubleshoot complex issues independently   
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize this position’s various initiatives and responsibilities during high-volume workloads. 
  • Basic computer literacy is helpful for documentation and diagnostics. (This role does not involve server administration, network engineering, or software development.) 
  • Any prior experience with converting internal documentation processes and procedures into actionable training materials and in-person training is highly desired. 
  • Any prior experience in the elections industry is a plus. 
  • No prior election equipment experience is required; structured technical training will be provided.
Physical Demands: 
  • Must be able to stand, sit, or bend for extended periods throughout the workday. 
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to eighty (80) pounds regularly throughout the workday. 
  • Must be able to operate a non-commercial (“standard”) motor vehicle for travel responsibilities. 
  • Must be able to occasionally handle a commercial vehicle (i.e. panel truck) as special projects demand. 
 
Compensation and Location: 
Compensation for this position is set at a range of $35,000.00 to $45,000.00 per year. This is a salaried, exempt position. This position’s salary will be commensurate with levels of demonstrated experience. 
 
Applicants for this position must be located within 30 miles of either our New Bern, North Carolina or Garner, North Carolina facilities.
