About us:

Foxdale Village, a life plan community guided by Quaker values, is a non-profit Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) located in State College, PA. Foxdale was founded in 1985 by members of the State College Friends Meeting and is founded on the values of treating all with dignity and respect. Foxdale is regarded as a premier healthcare facility both locally and nationally and has been voted "Best Retirement Community in State College, PA" for over a decade. Foxdale Village includes 57 apartments and 148 cottages and offers a range of health services with 46 beds in skilled nursing for short and long-term care, two memory care neighborhoods, and 55 beds in personal care, all with private accommodations. We currently have an opportunity for a new Life Enrichment Program Coordinator to join our team.


We are hiring for a Part-Time position and expected work typically 18 hours per week, with a regular schedule, and every 4th weekend. There is also an opportunity for more hours.


Life Enrichment Program Coordinator Job Summary: 

Responsible for the development and implementation of programs appropriate to the needs of residents. This includes creation of group, individual and independent programs designed to meet the interest of and support the well-being of each resident, recruitment of program attendees, supporting resident engagement in programs, recording resident program participation, and providing opportunities tailored to resident needs. Will attend seminars, meetings and in-service education opportunities in order to adhere to federal and state regulations. 


Essential Functions of the Position:

  • Assess and develop the leisure engagement plan of assigned residents within the required time after admission.
  • Maintain timely progress notes specific to the residents' leisure engagement, recording at least quarterly in the medical record and more frequently when appropriate.
  • Thoroughly assess residents to develop an individualized leisure engagement program. (For example background, interests, leisure preferences, previous lifestyle, abilities, physical and cognitive limitations, and needs.)
  • Plan and implement an ongoing program of small group leisure programs that incorporates resident's interests, hobbies, and cultural preferences as appropriate to the needs of the residents.
  • Provide individualized recreation opportunities as outlined in the assigned resident's care plan for therapeutic value and to support each residents' preferences.
  • Provide leadership that will encourage residents to make decisions, participate in planning, and assume a degree of responsibility and independence in programming.
  • Maintain residents' confidentiality and respect residents' rights.
  • Record daily resident attendance and participation in programs with reference to resident's response to the programs and care plan goals. Record resident participation and response to individual therapeutic programming.
  • Assist with scheduled recreational outings.
  • Prepare all needed supplies for programs and individual interventions in a timely manner. Notify supervisor of need for purchasing supplies required for programming.
  • Inform residents of programs by posting a monthly calendar in residents' rooms, posting on the daily bulletin board and by delivering individual invitations to appropriate residents.
  • Participate in all mandatory in-service education.
  • Participate in staff meetings, designated committee meetings, assigned resident care conferences and resident council meetings when appropriate.
  • Attend seminars and workshops approved by the Life Enrichment Supervisor to enhance knowledge and skills.
  • Carry out procedures as taught and defined in procedure and policy manuals.
  • Adhere to all federal and state regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Minimum Job Qualifications:

  • Education: Equivalent to a two-year degree in Therapeutic Recreation or similar field; Bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation or related field in aging services preferred.
  • Experience: One-year experience working with the elderly.
  • Language: Must be able to effectively communicate in English.
  • Strength: Must be able to bend, stoop, and lift no more than twenty pounds.
  • Licenses/Certifications: Must possess a valid PA Driver's License.

Interact with staff, residents, and residents' family members in a climate-controlled environment.
