SNC's Military Fellowship Program partners with programs such as SkillBridge and Hiring Our Heroes to provide fellowship opportunities to service members transitioning to the civilian workforce. As an Engineering Manager, you will be using your skills and expertise to manage functional teams through program execution for our products and services. These cover a very wide range from advanced mission payloads and electronic systems through highly integrated aircraft to orbital and space exploration systems. You will represent the engineering department at all management level meetings. You'll ensure that the engineering design, documentation, and approvals meet the program schedules, are obtained in a timely manner and that engineering hours expended are productive, meeting program goals and budgets. You will own and continuously improve processes and procedures, oversee training of staff and provide technical direction as required. Responsibilities Include: * Support project staffing plans, schedules, budgets, bids, and estimates for proposed program work packages, including the execution of risk mitigation plans.
* Ensure the availability and effectiveness of required tools, processes, and training to achieve program success, while aligning with SNC tools/processes and industry best practices/standards.
* Manage resource allocations required for program task execution, as well as risk, issue, and challenge identification.
* Collaborate with the business to determine staffing requirements and help source, screen, interview, and hire top engineering talent.
* Execute onboarding support, training, mentorship, and career path/talent development activities for engineering discipline teams.
* Provide career path support, conduct performance evaluations, and facilitate conflict resolution. Qualifications You Must Have: * Currently serving as active duty military and be eligible to participate in the DoD SkillBridge program
* Bachelor's of Science degree in a related discipline
* Typically, 8+ years of progressive engineering experience, which includes 4+ years of management experience.
* Thorough understanding of requirements management, requirements derivation, and requirements allocation; systems design, systems integration, technical risk identification and management strategies, and Verification and Validation principles
* Experience working in and leading large systems design and development teams
* Thorough Understanding of engineering principles and practices
* Experience with Computer Aided Engineering tools, analysis and simulation
* Ability to work in multi-disciplinary design and development teams
* Excellent communication and organizational skills
* The ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret U.S. Security Clearance is required Qualifications We Prefer: * Experience leading a multi-disciplinary team through system baseline definition and maturation exercises in a complex development setting
* Thorough understanding of establishing, tracking, and addressing key programmatic risks
* Practical knowledge of industry standard system engineering design principles, requirements management approaches, Traditional Systems Engineering and Model Based System Engineering (MBSE) approaches
* Experience with identifying and coordinating resources to ensure the required tools, processes, and training are available/effective and programs are staffed and supported to achieve success
* Previous management experience; exposure to recruiting employees; assigning, directing, and evaluating their work; and overseeing the development and maintenance of staff competence
* Understanding of how to prepare project schedules, budgets, bids, and estimates for proposed program work packages
* Prior exposure to working successfully in a highly collaborative, fast-paced environment emphasizing rapid prototyping and fielding of capabilities, with minimal supervision
* Advanced Experience with requirements management and system modelling tools, such Jama, Dassault 3DX, Cameo, Dymola, and MATLAB
* Extensive background in assessing and addressing Aerospace and Defense System Complexity and System Integration challenges
* Experience in executing high-impact trade studies
* Experience with Earned Value Management (EVM)
* Experienced in the application of ISO/IEC/IEEE 15288
* INCOSE CSEP/ESEP Certification
* Proven experience interviewing engineering candidates for technical positions
* Effective mentorship capabilities and experience conducting training
* Strong aptitude for resolving conflicts and supporting career development within the team
* Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry, the US Department of Defense or US Military
* Ability to motivate/work with others
