Engineering Project Manager – CAPEX
Location: Indianapolis, IN
Duration: 6-month contract

Position Summary

Our client is seeking an experienced Engineering Project Manager to support engineering and capital projects within a regulated pharmaceutical manufacturing environment. This individual will report directly to Engineering leadership and coordinate the planning, execution, and delivery of CAPEX initiatives.

The ideal candidate has experience managing engineering projects involving equipment, facilities, utilities, or manufacturing infrastructure and can effectively coordinate internal stakeholders, vendors, contractors, budgets, schedules, and project documentation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage engineering and CAPEX projects from planning through execution and closeout.
  • Develop and maintain project scopes, schedules, budgets, milestones, and resource plans.
  • Coordinate activities across Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Validation, Facilities, EHS, and other stakeholders.
  • Manage external vendors, engineering firms, contractors, and equipment suppliers.
  • Track project costs, commitments, forecasts, risks, and schedule performance.
  • Lead project meetings and provide clear status updates to Engineering leadership.
  • Identify project risks, constraints, and dependencies and coordinate timely resolution.
  • Support equipment procurement, installation, commissioning, qualification, and turnover activities.
  • Ensure projects comply with site procedures, safety requirements, change-control processes, and applicable GMP expectations.
  • Maintain accurate project records, decisions, action items, and closeout documentation.
  • Help manage project changes while minimizing impacts to budget, schedule, and operations.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related technical field.
  • Demonstrated experience managing engineering or capital projects in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, or another regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with CAPEX planning, budgeting, forecasting, and cost tracking.
  • Strong experience managing project schedules, vendors, contractors, and cross-functional teams.
  • Understanding of GMP environments and engineering change-control processes.
  • Strong communication, organization, problem-solving, and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and independently drive projects to completion.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities, laboratories, utilities, or process equipment.
  • Familiarity with commissioning, qualification, and validation activities.
  • PMP certification or comparable project-management training.
  • Experience with radiopharmaceutical manufacturing or similarly complex regulated operations.
  • Proficiency with project-management and scheduling tools such as Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, or equivalent platforms.
