Where is the work:

Monday to Thursday, work onsite with your colleagues. Fridays, choose your work location, balancing what your work requires.As a Designer III at Trane Technologies, you will be a key member of a high performing team of product development engineers and designers to support the mechanical design and development of HVAC products. This role is responsible for creating detailed design documentation, 3D models, and production drawings that translate engineering requirements into practical, manufacturable solutions. The ideal candidate brings strong technical design capability, sound judgment, and a continuous improvement mindset, along with the ability to contribute innovative concepts that enhance product performance, reliability, serviceability, and cost effectiveness.What you will do:
  • Develop detailed 3D models and engineering documentation for HVAC components and assemblies.
  • Translate product requirements and specifications into practical, manufacturable design solutions.
  • Support product development from concept through prototype, testing, validation, and production release.
  • Contribute innovative design concepts that improve product efficiency, reliability, serviceability, and overall customer value.
  • Apply knowledge of mechanical design, materials, tolerances, and manufacturing methods to deliver quality designs.
  • Use drafting and design standards, practices, methods, and processes to create accurate engineering documentation.
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, sourcing, quality, lab, and project teams.
  • Develop and maintain bills of materials, drawing revisions, and controlled engineering documentation.
  • Lead smaller project tasks and identify and resolve design issues.
  • Maintain proficiency in CAD and related engineering applications.
  • Demonstrate a customer-focused, innovative, and quality-driven approach.
  • Communicate effectively and follow company safety and security requirements.
What you will bring:
  • Associate's Degree in Mechanical Design or Drafting and at least 5-years of mechanical design experience preferably in HVAC, industrial equipment or a manufacturing environment.
- OR -
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering and at least 3-years experience of mechanical design experience preferably in HVAC, industrial equipment or a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency with CAD tools such as PTC Creo, SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar platforms.
  • Familiarity with GD&T, design for manufacturability, tolerance analysis, engineering change management, and PLM, ERP, or document control systems.

Annual Base Salary Range or Hourly Base Pay Range:

$72,928.33 - $101,570.00
