About the Role
The Software Engineer II independently designs, develops, tests, and deploys full-stack features spanning backend services, APIs, and frontend applications for Vega Claims' commercial insurance claims processing platform. This role builds and maintains both internal and external-facing web applications used by claims adjusters, insurance carriers, and other business stakeholders.
The role also applies cloud infrastructure knowledge on AWS and Google Cloud Platform to architect scalable, fault-tolerant backend systems while building responsive, user-facing interfaces that support claims automation workflows. The Software Engineer II applies working knowledge of data privacy and security compliance frameworks, including SOC 2 Trust Services Criteria, to ensure claims data handling meets regulatory requirements specific to the insurance industry.
What You'll Do
  • Independently design, build, test and deploy full-stack features for the company's
  • commercial insurance claims platform, including the internal and external web applications
  • used by adjusters and insurance carriers.
  • Design the architecture of scalable backend systems on AWS and GCP.
  • Build user interfaces for the automation of insurance claims workflows.
  • Diagnose and resolve production incidents affecting the claims platform.
  • Apply SOC 2 compliance and data privacy requirements to the handling of claims data.
  • Translate commercial insurance business requirements into technical designs, working with
  • Product and Engineering leadership.
  • Participate in code reviews and enforce engineering standards across the codebase.
  • Provide technical guidance to junior engineers on the platform team.

What You Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering or equivalent 4-year program
  • 2 years of professional software engineering experience
  • Experience developing and deploying full-stack features across backend services, APIs, and frontend applications
  • Experience building and maintaining web applications
  • Experience with AWS and/or Google Cloud Platform
  • Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment when making technical and architecture decisions
