Job description


We are currently recruiting for an experienced Program Manager in the Ground Systems and Services (GSS) business unit of BAE Systems, Space and Mission Systems (SMS) sector. The position reports to a Mission Area which executes programs that consist of a wide variety of development and operations solutions for Government and prime contractor customers within the US Government.
The Ground Systems & Services (GSS) Strategic Business Unit is responsible for driving business growth in the ground systems development, operations & sustainment, and technical services markets. This business unit focuses on designing, building and integrating ground systems in support of air and space-based assets, providing operational support for mission platforms and instruments and offering scientific and engineering expertise to our customers.
What You'll Do:
  • Lead the development and execution of a complex ground development program.
  • Manage all aspects of program delivery, including technical performance, schedule, and cost.
  • Provide sound leadership and cross-functional team building to motivate, influence, and effectively apply the program staff.
  • Coordinate and communicate effectively with multiple stakeholders across the organization.
  • Apply project management best practices to ensure successful program outcomes.
  • Oversee large-scale program operations from planning through execution.
  • Manage subcontractor scope and execution performance.
  • Manage and support proposals, as required.
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site five days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.
Working Conditions:
  • Work is performed in an office environment, laboratory, cleanroom, or production floor.

Short Term Incentive: Subject to business performance and recommendations of management, this role may be eligible to participate in an incentive compensation plan.
Required Skills and Education
  • BS/BA in related field plus 10 or more years related experience.
  • Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master's Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
  • A current, active Top Secret/SCI security clearance is required.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing complex programs with multiple stakeholders.
  • Solid knowledge of program management principles, practices, and tools, including Agile methodologies.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.

  • Master's degree in Engineering Management or equivalent.
  • Experience with ground development programs, including system design, integration, and testing.
  • Knowledge of integrated space systems, including space/ground integration and operations and sustainment.
  • Familiarity with BAE Systems' SMS product lines and technologies.
  • Subcontract Management experience.
