Job description

Position Summary Provide counseling services for the City of Albuquerque's Employee Assistance Program (EAP); coordinate assigned activities with other divisions and outside agencies; provide highly responsible and complex administrative support to the EAP Manager. Job descriptions are intended to present a general list of tasks/duties performed by employees within this job classification. Job Descriptions are not intended to reflect all duties performed within the job.

Essential and Supplemental Functions SSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Essential functions may include, but are not limited to thefunctions listed below. Must be able to perform the essential functions of thejob with or without a reasonable accommodation. Provide counseling services to city employees and eligible family members; identify safety issues; evaluate and identify course of treatment; provide referral services as needed.

Coordinate care with a variety of internal and external agencies including medical facilities, private/public/non-profit counseling practices, and Risk Management. Perform case management and employee monitoring services including, but not limited to, session scheduling, monitoring treatment plans, and termination of clients. Maintain documentation for all services provided, including any employee contracts, in accordance with all applicable regulations and laws.

Maintain and protect client confidentiality. Provide training to internal and external departments regarding EAP services. Create content for the EAP newsletter, email notifications, presentations and trainings.

Generate reports regarding EAP utilization and other trends and present information. Identify opportunities for improving service delivery methods and procedures; identify resource needs; review with appropriate management staff; implement improvements. Perform crisis intervention and de-escalation of probable violent situations.

Inform EAP Manager of potentially dangerous situations. Participate in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, and priorities; recommend and implement resulting policies and procedures. SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS: Attend and participate in professional group meetings; stay abreast of new trends and innovations in the field of employee assistance programs.

Perform related duties and responsibilities as required. Minimum Education, Experience And Additional Requirements Master's degree from an accredited college or university in psychology, counseling or social work; and Four (4) years of experience as a licensed counselor providing direct counseling services to clients. Employee Assistance Program (EAP) experience preferred.

State of New Mexico Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW) preferred. Certified as an Employee Assistance Professional (CEAP) preferred ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License or the ability to obtain by date of hire. Possession of a City Operator's Permit (COP) within six (6) months from date of hire.

State of New Mexico Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). Working Conditions Environmental: Office environment; exposure to computer screens. Physical: Essential supplemental functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for sitting or standing for prolonged periods to time; moderate or light lifting or carrying.
