Job description

QC Environmental Monitoring Tech/Intern

The QC Environmental Monitoring (EM) Tech/Intern supports the Quality Control Microbiology function by performing environmental monitoring activities in controlled manufacturing areas. This role is responsible for collecting and documenting environmental samples, including surface sampling, non-viable particle monitoring, and viable air sampling, in accordance with approved procedures, GMP requirements, and site safety standards. The position also supports accurate data recording, sample handling, and routine laboratory or monitoring-related tasks.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine environmental monitoring in classified or controlled areas using approved procedures and aseptic practices.
  • Conduct surface sampling using contact plates, swabs, or other approved methods.
  • Perform non-viable particle sampling using designated monitoring equipment.
  • Perform viable air sampling in manufacturing and support areas according to established schedules and procedures.
  • Label, transport, and submit samples appropriately while maintaining sample integrity.
  • Complete GMP documentation accurately, legibly, and in real time.
  • Record results in logs, worksheets, or electronic systems in compliance with data integrity requirements.
  • Assist with incubation, reading, and basic handling of environmental monitoring media, if applicable.
  • Support routine cleaning, setup, upkeep, and calibration coordination for monitoring equipment as assigned.
  • Notify supervision of atypical results, deviations, equipment issues, or sampling concerns.
  • Follow gowning, cleanroom behavior, and contamination control requirements at all times.
  • Maintain compliance with cGMP, GDP, SOPs, and site safety requirements.
  • Requires weekend availability

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; coursework toward an associate or bachelor's degree in microbiology, biology, biotechnology, chemistry, or a related scientific field preferred for intern candidates.
  • Basic understanding of microbiology, cleanroom operations, or laboratory practices is preferred.
  • Ability to follow written procedures and complete detailed documentation accurately.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners.
  • Basic computer skills for data entry, documentation, and record review.
  • Willingness to work in controlled environments while wearing required gowning and personal protective equipment.

$25 - $30 an hour
