Are you a detail-driven electrical engineer skilled in embedded systems, circuit design, and validation, who excels in both independent work and cross-functional collaboration? If so, you may be a great fit for this position. As an Electrical Engineer at Hydro-Gear you will research, design, develop and test electrical and electronic components, equipment, and systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities of an Electrical Engineer:
  • Research, design, develop and maintain new products and components, including, but not limited to:

o Printed circuit boards (PCB)
o Motors, AC, DC (brushed and brushless)
o Wiring harnesses, including connectors
o Software programming
  • Analyze the requirements, capabilities and performance of new and existing products
  • Create and maintain Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (DFMEA) for electric components and products
  • Communicate orally and in writing with personnel at all levels, both internal and external, regarding the technical details of new and existing products
  • Research potential new product developments and new processes
  • Design, develop, and lead tests to qualify new products and to support changes to existing products
  • Participate in the activities of a product development team, or the electrical portion of a larger development team
  • Use CAD programs to develop concepts and designs
  • Procure components and services for development of prototype hardware
  • Assemble and evaluate the performance of prototype and pre-production hardware
  • Review and act on supplier non-conformances
  • Be instrumental in cost avoidance and cost reduction activities throughout development and production
  • Process customer and in-house engineering sample requests
  • Provide the Product Engineering Manager or Director of Product Development with the technical information for the monthly Engineering Report

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering (B.S.E.E) or Computer Science (B.S.C.S) or equivalent from a 4-year college or university
  • 2+ years of experience architecting, designing, developing, troubleshooting, and validating embedded electronics systems.
  • Design experience in power electronics, sensing systems, BDC and BLDC motor control systems, or Controller Area Network (CAN) systems
  • Experience with Signal conditioning and sampling, power supply designs, motor control, and electrical system integration.
  • Experience using Altium or equivalent design software and version control processes.
  • Preferred experience with functional safety standards related to electrical design.
