Employment Type: Full-Time
Position Summary
The primary responsibilities of this position include advanced electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic controls design, development of complex machine control software, and project management for automated systems. This role will guide designers and detailers to ensure successful design integration and execution while coordinating engineering activities throughout the project lifecycle.
Essential Job Functions
  • Perform advanced electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic control system design.
  • Design and develop machine control software, operator interfaces, and factory integration systems.
  • Maintain electronic project documentation, including issue tracking, station planning, meeting notes, and customer documentation.
  • Develop and maintain PLC and HMI software templates while adhering to customer specifications and industry standards.
  • Verify design components and procedures using established engineering best practices.
  • Lead and participate in design reviews throughout all phases of the project.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to designers and detailers within the engineering team.
  • Review, update, modify, and approve electrical design plans and project schedules.
  • Develop methods and procedures to improve engineering efficiency and workflow.
  • Conduct research, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and problem resolution for automated equipment.
  • Collaborate with customers to ensure projects meet technical and performance specifications.
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and target hours.
  • Prepare written procedures, reports, schedules, and status updates as required.
  • Coordinate with purchasing teams and vendors to manage project costs.
  • Participate in customer design approvals, reviews, and equipment runoffs.
  • Support proposal development through electrical hardware and software design input.
  • Assist field service teams, assembly operations, and machine debugging activities as needed.
  • Perform all responsibilities associated with electrical hardware and software engineering.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, and training initiatives within the engineering department.

Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Computer Engineering Technology, or related field preferred.
  • 5-10 years of experience in manufacturing, automation, or machine design environments preferred.
  • Associate degree in Engineering Technology with 10+ years of relevant experience may be considered.

Required Qualifications
  • Advanced proficiency with AutoCAD or AutoCAD Electrical.
  • Strong working knowledge of Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Advanced experience with PLC programming and industrial automation software.
  • Familiarity with HMI software, servo systems, robotics, and industrial communication systems.
  • Knowledge of applicable industry standards including NEC, NFPA, OSHA, ANSI, ISO, CSA, UL, and CE requirements.
  • Understanding of industrial power systems, Arc Flash safety, and Hazardous Energy Control procedures.
  • Experience with machine safety systems, risk assessments, and control-reliable system design.
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally as required.
