Job Description
QUALIFICATIONS: A high school graduate or equivalent. Must pass the EEI TECH test. Must have minimum of thirty-six (36) credit hours in an ABET accredited engineering or engineering technology curriculum or be currently active (or become active the next available school semester and remain active until schooling requirements are completed) in obtaining the preceding schooling requirements and have five (5) years of combined experience in a skilled trade directly related to the engineering discipline where the vacancy exists or have previously been an Assistant to Engineer, Junior, at Indianapolis Power & Light Company. All other general qualifications such as attendance and punctuality, safety and performance will be considered.
Additional consideration will be given for the following job-related training or experience:
Training or experience in the use of Microsoft Office Suite of products; Training or experience in the use of AutoCad; Training or experience in the preparation of diagrams, sketches and prints and the ability to interpret complex plans; Experience in the use of and interpretation of National Electrical Safety Code (NESC); Experience in a skilled trade related to engineering discipline; and Any other qualifications contributing to the applicant's ability to perform the job.
PRIMARY DUTIES: Provides technical assistance of a sub-professional level for civil, electrical, environmental, mechanical or other engineering disciplines in the office, plant or in the field.
Performs duties such as:
Prepares field layouts, prints, plans or work orders for projects in the assigned area. Performs load and voltage, emissions, steam, air, water flow, or computer-related test and analysis related to the assigned project. Coordinates work with survey crews and assists surveyors in the completion of assigned projects; Advises customers, contractors and vendors regarding the assigned projects. Initiates right-of-way and/or easement requests. Field checks construction projects for conformance to drawings and specification notes and records discrepancies and reports to appropriate authority. May train less senior employees.
In addition to the "Primary Duties" listed above, the employee may be called upon to perform other work as circumstances require.
