This position is a tiered position and is overall responsible for being the technical leader, being able to trouble shoot and drive down scrap. This job will require executing the daily plan set forth by business needs while fostering a work environment that supports safety, quality, productivity, teamwork, training and development, and the overall Reschcor culture.

Position Overview

  • Ensures effective employee relations and provides employee coaching and manufacturing development.
  • Balances safety, quality, productivity, and morale to achieve positive results within the cell.
  • Works to continuously improve in all areas.
  • Assists with achieving daily production requirements and accurately reporting these results.
  • Participates in and actively supports the facility safety systems.
  • Understands and utilizes the Quality Management system.
  • Troubleshooting machinery/equipment.
  • Follow up on production and quality issues with direction of Shift Supervisor and Production Manager and Quality Manager.
  • Responsible for using a percentage of regrind back into the profiles as deemed acceptable by the BOM.
  • Practices 5s and lean manufacturing principles and is responsible to assure that lean practices are being maintained within the cell.
  • Lead Technicians will need to enjoy working in a hands-on, fast-paced environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Read and follow Reschcor Parameters/Prints/Quality Plans/Packaging Documentation
  • Calculate with basic arithmetic and metrology using rulers, tape measures, calipers
  • Read and follow routing information for work orders
  • Clean out Loaders/Blenders/Dryers
  • Purge, cleanout, bump screws on extruders properly
  • Remove and install simple dies and sizing in tanks with instruction
  • Setup and operate common downstream equipment with instruction
  • Clean out production line grinders and apply labeling properly
  • Load hoppers and hand mix material into extruders (Main and Co-Extruder)
  • Set extruder temperatures and start extruder warm up procedure
  • Basic understanding of and ability to follow tool routing procedure
  • Management of raw material usage at the extrusion lines
  • Setup and produce quality profiles on single or twin-screw extruding lines
  • Setup and produce quality profiles on downstream equipment for frequently run profiles
  • Follow processing parameters for commonly used materials
  • Follow setup and Dozuki instruction with limited assistance
  • String up and save common profiles with minimal scrap generated
  • Produce quality profiles with limited assistance of others
  • Problem solve issues and suggest continuous improvement activities
  • Train and develop jr lead technicians
  • Identify and assist in resolving safety and productivity issues

Qualifications Include

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in plastics is preferred but not required.
  • Proficient with basic arithmetic, algebra, statistical calculations, and metrology including rulers, tape measures, and calipers.
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong ability to problem solve
  • Technical knowledge of extrusion
  • Demonstrated strong leadership skills
  • Must possess excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills to interact within all levels of the organization.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Experience working within ERP system, preferably IQMS
  • Able to read and interpret blueprints and engineering documents.
  • Lean manufacturing or six sigma experience is a plus.
  • Must be able to stand, bend, stoop, walk up and down stairs and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Available to work a 12 hour rotation schedule: working 4 days one week and 3 days the next week
