Job description

Job Summary
Control's Hardware Engineer is an individual contributor position within the Bastian Controls group. This position is responsible for tasks relating to the Control's schematic design, hardware specifications, and implementation of shared services that support other Controls engineering teams. The Control's Hardware Engineer collaborates closely with their team leader and peers, ensuring all design deliverables meet or exceed project expectations. This role serves a diverse range of industries, including manufacturing, supply chain logistics and engineering.
Essential Functions
  • Develop precise CAD drawings under the direction of Controls Hardware Lead and Controls Project Team members.
  • Review control panel designs to identify and correct quality issues.
  • Participates actively and on time in scheduled meetings, including Controls staff meetings.
  • Strives to deliver designs within budgeted time and resources.
  • Communicate with Electrical Installation, Project teams, and Panel shop for design changes through project lifecycle.
  • Provides cross-functional support to project teams, contributing beyond the scope of Controls when needed.
  • Builds and strengthens relationships with key suppliers, optimizing product and service partnerships.
  • Develops innovative Controls techniques, products, or services, maintaining a competitive edge in the industry.
  • Fosters a collaborative team environment, actively contributing to office culture and success.
  • Completes administrative tasks promptly, including timesheets and expense reports.
  • Represents Bastian professionally, promoting the company in relevant forums.
  • Cultivates long-term customer relationships, driving repeat business and trust.
  • Adapts to evolving responsibilities, taking on additional duties as needed.

Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Technology
  • 2+ years of work experience or 4+ years of CAD design experience
  • Proficiency in interpreting electrical schematics and safety ratings
  • Proficiency in calculating and specifying required protective devices, including fuse and circuit breaker sizing, within schematic designs.
  • Proficiency in technical drawing skills, especially in the AutoCAD Electrical
  • Proficiency in electrical design
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Material handling experience
  • Strong team collaboration skills
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines effectively.
  • Highly motivated and results-driven
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • EPLAN experience is a plus.
  • Must be eligible to work in the USA long term without sponsorship.
