Job description

Position Summary
As a Marketing Communications Specialist II - Technical Communications you are responsible for the development and implementation of marketing communications and technical content initiatives in support of STERIS Life Sciences' global sales and marketing strategies.
In this role you will provide multi-functional, project-based and tactical support with a strong focus on technical writing, product literature, training materials, and regulated content, in addition to digital marketing, and trade show support. This position plays a critical role in ensuring complex scientific and technical information is translated into clear, accurate, and customer-facing messaging that enhances brand presence, supports compliance, and drives business growth.
As a Specialist you will support communications programs for product launches, trade show and events, and ongoing campaigns aligned to strategic business initiatives, while driving continuous improvement in content quality, consistency, and operational efficiency.
This is a hybrid role with the requirement of working onsite at our Mentor, OH Corporate HQ, 2 days per week.
What You'll do as a Marketing Specialist II
Core Writing & Messaging - 30%
  • Develop clear, compelling, and accurate copy across multiple channels (digital, print, sales enablement, internal communications)
  • Support the development and implementation of messaging frameworks aligned to product positioning and business strategy
  • Contribute to copywriting for product launches, campaigns, and key initiatives
  • Translate complex technical concepts into customer-focused messaging with guidance from senior team members

Technical Literature Development & Management - 40%
  • Develop and update technical literature and documentation, including product literature, training materials, and procedural content
  • Ensure accuracy, clarity, and consistency across technical and scientific content
  • Partner with Technical Services, Regulatory, and Product Management teams to support content development and approval processes
  • Follow established templates, standards, and processes for scalable literature development

Content & Editorial Governance - 20%
  • Apply established editorial standards, brand tone, and voice across all communications
  • Ensure content aligns with corporate communication policies and regulatory requirements
  • Participate in content review and approval workflows
  • Maintain consistency across external and internal messaging

Workflow & Operational Efficiency - 10%
  • Execute work within established content workflows, intake processes, and prioritization models
  • Support efficient content development to meet timelines while maintaining quality and compliance
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and timely delivery of projects
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and share recommendations with
  • Ensure clarity, accuracy, and consistency across all outputs

The Experience, Skills and Abilities Needed
Required:
  • BA or BS degree in Marketing, Communications, Technical Writing, or a related field
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in marketing communications, technical writing, or project management
  • Minimum of 3 years of copywriting experience, with an emphasis on procedural, technical, or regulated content
  • Experience supporting and executing marketing communications projects in support of commercial strategy, including contributing to messaging frameworks and multi-channel content development
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex technical or scientific concepts into clear, customer-facing content
  • Experience developing and managing technical literature and documentation within structured or regulated environments
  • Exposure to content workflows, review processes, and editorial governance frameworks

Preferred:
  • Proficiency in core business tools and content systems (e.g., Microsoft Office 365, project management tools such as Workzone, content/document management systems)

Other:
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills, with the ability to adapt tone and messaging for technical and commercial audiences
  • Strong command of messaging strategy, including positioning, value proposition development, and content frameworks
  • Deep understanding of technical and scientific content development, with an ability to ensure accuracy, clarity, and compliance
  • Strong operational mindset with experience building and improving content workflows, processes, and governance models
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to quality, consistency, and brand alignment
  • Advanced problem-solving skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and drive outcomes in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong organizational and planning capabilities, including prioritization, workload management, and delivering within deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and enforce editorial standards and quality control processes

Pay range for this opportunity is $68,000.00 - $80,000.00. This position is eligible for bonus participation.
Minimum pay rates offered will comply with county/city minimums, if higher than range listed. Pay rates are based on a number of factors, including but not limited to local labor market costs, years of relevant experience, education, professional certifications, foreign language fluency, etc.
