Job description

Summary:
Messerli Kramer, a trusted Twin Cities law firm since 1965, is looking for an in-person full-time EDI Supervisor to join our team in Plymouth, MN. This position will supervise a team of EDI Analysts and technical specialists who are responsible for the daily data exchange and workflow maintenance necessary to support our data operations environment. More specifically, the Supervisor will oversee staff to ensure that all required EDI transfers occur as scheduled between the firm, our clients and our vendors. The Supervisor will also ensure that file transfer rejections are capably investigated and remediated. Additionally, the Supervisor will ensure that internal system workflow is maintained and adjusted based on business needs. A final primary duty will be to collaborate with operations staff to ensure client directed changes in data mapping are assimilated into our system of record.
Essential Functions and Duties for the EDI Supervisor Include:
  • Daily Supervision of EDI staff
  • Monitoring staff daily task lists to ensure all required file transfers occur as scheduled.
  • Working with EDI staff and the Data Operations Development team to troubleshoot file transfer failures.
  • Monitoring EDI rejections, utilizing and enhancing dashboards to identify trends and focus on resolving root causes of issues.
  • Ensuring controls are functional for all manual processes and automated jobs which will alert the team if a file transfer failed or a received file failed to be ingested into the database.
  • Ensuring that EDI staff makes use of existing client echoback exception reports and work with the Data Operations Development team in implementing new automated echoback processes to further validate effective data transfer.
  • Completing change management protocols by reviewing published changes in client mapping requirements. Collaborating with subject matter experts and ensuring specialists correctly installed those changes through use of: system exchange mapping, alterations to Table, Figure, and Listing (TFL) Programming, SSRS/SSIS packages or alterations to SQL extracts.
  • Ensuring Specialists complete all testing requirements from change management including testing of data transfer through to client systems of record.
  • Ensuring that workflow tickets are completed by the Workflow Specialist in optimal timeframes and critical tickets are resolved same day.
  • Ensuring the document specialist maintains proper quality control procedures and completes strategic projects to further automate document handling protocols.
  • Ensuring staff maintains up to date work instructions for all processes.
  • Participating in planning for project Sprints for tickets assigned to the team, then monitoring and assisting staff to ensure Sprints are completed as scheduled.

Requirements
Required Education & Experience:
  • 3+ years of EDI/Data Integration experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education.
  • 2+ years of leadership experience.
  • Experience working with EDI in financial or collections environments, particularly where data accuracy, compliance and auditability are critical, is preferred.

Competencies:
  • Extremely detail oriented with a high degree of focus on maintaining consistency and routine in daily processes.
  • Experience with multi system mapping practices, including translating client specifications into system of record input/output as well as change control documentation.
  • Experience utilizing and developing control structures to ensure the accuracy and quality of data imports/exports.
  • Functional understanding of Action/Result code workflow triggering daisy chained events in the system of record.
  • Ability to multi-task multiple assignments simultaneously with differing levels of urgency.
  • Excellent communication and people skills.
  • Strong problem diagnosis and resolution skills.
  • Understanding of the capabilities of SQL/Python/PowerShell and other tools and awareness of how they could be used to automate manual actions.
  • Experience applying such automations is a plus.
  • Education in the IT/Computer Science field is a plus.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps is a plus.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:
This role operates in a professional office setting, routinely working with standard office equipment. Generally, due to the nature of this office position, the person in this role would be required to talk and hear, sit or stand for long period of time, and use their hands and fingers, to handle and feel. Occasionally required to walk, reach with arms and hand, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, or crouch. Regularly required to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Vision abilities required by the job include close vision.
