SALES REPRESENTATIVE

Advantech Industries Inc. is a family-owned manufacturing company based in Rochester, New York, specializing in CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, welding, and assembly services. The company, founded in 2002, serves multiple industries, including defense, medical, and aerospace, and operates out of a 250,000-square-foot facility. 

Advantech Industries Inc. is currently recruiting a Sales Representative. 


This position offers a base salary range of $80,000 to $90,000, to commensurate with experience, and a performance-based commission structure based on new customer acquisition, growth of existing accounts, and overall sales revenue. This position is full-time on-site in Rochester, NY. In order for a candidate to be considered they must be local to Rochester, NY.  Remote or hybrid arrangements are not available for this role. 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Sales Representative is responsible for acquiring and retaining broad-based customer relationships with an emphasis on the machining industry.  Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Prospect for new business by researching, primarily using the Internet. 
  • Prepare and present customized proposals that highlight technical solutions and drive customer commitment.
  • Using excellent verbal communication skills, the salesperson deals with customers, vendors and all channels of distribution to assess and analyze timely product delivery and any hindrances to it. 
  • Initiates and makes “cold calls” on a planned basis to enhance exposure to new situations and opportunities
  • The Sales Representative will be expected to travel 20% of the time, where they will directly sell in the field, deliver parts, meet with prospects, visit existing customers, and attend trade shows, sales forums, and business meetings to represent the company and generate new business opportunities. 
  • Serves as a point of contact for business customers and maintains a high level of product and vendor knowledge.
  • Develop and maintain strong, long-term relationships with new and existing customers to promote repeat business. 

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Under limited direction, and with a quality work ethic, the employee shall function as a member of a customer-driven quality team whose goal is to ensure that product quality requirements established by the customer have been achieved.
  • Maintain a high level of knowledge about sheet metal, laser cutting or punching, forming, welding and assembly.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, good organizational skills, and personal leadership skills.
  • Must be self-motivated, able to work independently, and have a desire to continuously improve one’s skill set and technical knowledge.
  • Must be comfortable with cold calls and lead generating.
  • Promote and support the requirements and principles of the Advantech Quality Management System and AS9100.
  • Knowledge of Internet, good PC skills with proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Must be willing to travel.
  • Requires a NYS driver’s license and vehicle insurance.
  • Associate’s degree required, Bachelor’s degree preferred.  
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in outside sales, preferably in manufacturing.

According to the New York Pay Transparency law, pay range for this job is $80,000 to $90,000 per year. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
