Defense Red Switch Network (DRSN) NOC Technician III
Location: Scott Air Force Base, Illinois (Onsite)
Clearance: Must be eligible to obtain/maintain a Secret clearance.
Role Overview
This position supports the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA), which acts as the provider of GIG/Defense Information System Network (DISN) services to its customers. This role directly supports the DISA-provided GIG capabilities and services in a 24x7 Global Operations Center. Shift work, including nights and weekends, is required for this role.
Key Responsibilities
  • Create, update, and resolve network problems and issues using the ServiceNow platform.
  • Notify necessary points of contact regarding network, circuit, or location incidents.
  • Execute network operations, including configuration and analysis of customer circuits across Time Division Multiplexing (TDM) and Session Initiated Protocol (SIP) trunks.
  • Work directly with customers and stakeholders to ensure maximum network availability.
  • Proactively monitor network alarms using platform-specific network management tools.
  • Provide timely situational awareness to leadership and impacted parties regarding network incidents.
  • Utilize incident management applications to document all aspects of reported outages, degradations, isolations, and resolutions.
  • Perform configuration maintenance on route plans, route lists, device profiles, calling search spaces, and route partitions.
  • Assess, identify, and recommend resolutions for various network incidents and configuration deficiencies.
  • Develop and recommend solutions and processes pertaining to network operations.
Required Qualifications
Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience: 2-4 years of prior relevant experience.
Technical Skills: A general understanding of both voice infrastructure and IP network topologies is required.
Certifications: Must hold a DoD-8570 IAT Level 2 baseline certification (e.g., Security+ CE) prior to the start date.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a tech control facility or with cyber transport.
  • Experience with circuit actions.
  • Proficiency with the MS Office suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, TEAMs).
  • Experience with alarm surveillance, call routing, session initiated protocol, media call flow, packet capture analysis, or Juniper IP technologies.
  • Knowledge of routers, switches, crypto devices, CISCO, Juniper, video teleconferencing (VTC), or various voice services.
Work Environment
The position is based in a 24x7 operations center environment and requires the ability to work in shifts, including nights and weekends. The role may involve extended periods of sitting while using a computer or phone.
