Position: full-time > Mon-Fri / 8:00am-5:00pmSalary:ย $68,000-$72,000 (based on experience)

The Driver Safety & Field Training Manager is a handson, fieldbased safety leader responsible for improving driver performance, reducing preventable events, and strengthening safety culture through direct coaching, onsite training, and proactive monitoring of ELD and unsafe driving data.

Duties and responsibilities

Driver Coaching & Field Training

  • Conduct onsite driver training, ridea longs, and refresher sessions
  • Visit and audit pickup and delivery locations identified as high risk
  • Deliver practical instructions on:
    • Dump/Roll off trailer operations
    • Flatbed load securement
    • Molten trailer operations
    • Pretrip / posttrip inspections
    • Defensive driving and hazard recognition
  • Provide oneonone coaching following safety events, inspections, or trends
  • Serve as a trusted safety resource for drivers, dispatch, and operations

ELD & Unsafe Driving Event Monitoring

  • Monitor MMOTIVE ELD and event recorder data, driving behaviors, and unsafe event alerts
  • Identify patterns and trends, not just isolated incidents
  • Initiate coaching and corrective action based on defined thresholds
  • Partner with Corporate Safety to ensure consistent enforcement and messaging
  • Maintain accurate documentation of coaching, retraining, and followup

Safety Culture & Accountability

  • Reinforce company safety standards while maintaining driver respect and credibility
  • Support fair, consistent application of safety policies
  • Assist with accident investigations and postincident retraining as needed
  • Act as a bridge between Corporate Safety and field operations

Collaboration & Reporting

  • Work closely with Corporate Safety, Operations, Dispatch, and Maintenance
  • Participate in quarterly meetings and training sessions at Corporate Headquarters (Weedsport, NY)
  • Provide feedback from the field to improve training programs and safety initiatives

Qualifications:

Required

  • Background in trucking operations, such as:
    • CDL driver (current or former)
    • Driver trainer or CDL instructor
    • Lead driver, safety trainer, or field safety role
  • Strong understanding of:
    • FMCSA regulations
    • Driver hoursofservice concepts
    • Pretrip/posttrip inspections
    • Realworld driver challenges and workflows
  • Ability to coach drivers with professionalism, firmness, and respect
  • Comfortable using computers and safety systems (MOTIVE ELD, dashboards, reporting tools)
  • Willingness to work in the field and be visible with drivers

Strongly Preferred (Not Required)

  • Experience with dump, roll-off and/or molten trailers
  • Experience with flatbed load securement
  • Prior safety or compliance responsibilities
  • Experience coaching drivers after incidents or violations
