This team member will maintain a diverse, engaged professional driver network which is essential to Auto Driveaway's operations and customer experience. Moving tens of thousands of assets per year, from cars to Class 8 trucks to specialized equipment, having highly trained, safety conscious drivers will ensure the vehicles entrusted to us are delivered on time and as promised. With safety as a core value, the Driver Recruiter will also assist in monitoring compliance activities, making certain our drivers are in full compliance with FMCSA regulations, operating safely and in a professional manner.

Responsibilities

Driver Recruitment:

  • Recruit professional drivers for all asset types, including but not limited to DOT and CDL capable resources
  • Screen applications; conduct phone and/or in-person interviews to determine the most qualified driver candidates to be onboarded into the driver pool
  • Engage with internal stakeholders to ensure driver population reflects forecasted volume and specific projects, including holding regional recruitment initiatives to meet business needs
  • Develop driver utilization metrics to keep safe drivers busy and rewarded
  • Establish a driver engagement platform to drive corporate culture, customer service excellence and inclusion across a geographically dispersed network
  • Partner with the safety and compliance team on driver onboarding and training processes
  • Explore new and innovative recruiting opportunities to grow the driver population across all segments, including DOT and CDL drivers, using traditional and non-traditional techniques such as cold-calling, direct sourcing, networking, job fairs, employment agencies, internet searches, postings, etc.
  • Be an active participant and contribute to driver recruitment initiatives and communicate proactively and consistently with business partners
  • Provide requested reporting and analytics
  • Grow Auto Driveaway's reputation as the driveaway company of choice across the United States

Compliance:

  • Ensure DOT files are complete and in compliance with FMCSA regulations
  • Maintain internal processes to ensure efficient administration of DOT compliance
  • Exercise independent judgment and discretion in making recommendations to upper management relating to maintaining and improving compliance standards
  • Assist with the administration of driver pre-employment and random drug screening
  • Manage new hire Comdata card distribution
  • Conduct driver orientation
  • Build and send out driver legals
  • Complete previous employment verifications on future and past drivers


Requirements

  • 2+ years of recruiting experience, with proven mastery of the full life cycle of recruitment for drivers, recruiting practices, processes and procedures including relevant federal and state laws
  • Experience with CDL drivers is strongly desired
  • Strong background in transportation, logistics or related fields
  • Knowledge of transportation regulations and compliance requirements
  • Exceptional organizational and communication skills
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • High energy, enthusiasm and drive for achieving results
  • Passionate about safety and customer experience
  • Ability to conduct cold calls, research-based sourcing and internet and web-based recruiting
  • Proficiency with email and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
  • Project planning and project management skills
  • Data analysis and/or report building experience
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment, recognizing a sense of urgency and self-motivation
