Job description

Position Summary
The Manufacturing Drafter is responsible for creating, updating, and maintaining detailed manufacturing drawings and associated technical documentation used to support production. This role works closely with Manufacturing Engineers and Operations to ensure drawings accurately reflect manufacturing intent, approved configurations, and quality requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Drafting & CAD Support
  • Create and revise manufacturing drawings, assembly drawings, and detail drawings using CAD software (SolidWorks/CATIA)
  • Maintain accurate 2D drawings derived from approved CAD models and engineering inputs
  • Apply appropriate dimensions, tolerances, notes, and specifications to support manufacturing and inspection
Manufacturing Documentation
  • Update and maintain drawings to support production changes and corrections
  • Incorporate redlines, markups, and engineering changes into released documentation
  • Ensure drawings clearly communicate manufacturing intent and are suitable for shop-floor use
Drawing Control & Accuracy
  • Ensure drawings comply with company drafting standards, design practices, and configuration control requirements
  • Verify drawing accuracy, completeness, and revision status prior to release
  • Assist with maintaining organized and traceable drawing records within document control or PDM systems
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in drafting/design engineering, engineering technology, or a related engineering field (or equivalent experience)
  • 3+ years of experience creating manufacturing or production drawings
  • Proficiency with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA, or similar)
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and shop-floor practices
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in a regulated manufacturing environment (aerospace, defense, medical, industrial)
  • Familiarity with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Experience with document control or PDM systems
  • Understanding of quality systems such as AS9100 or ISO 9001
