Job description

Job Summary:
PlanIT Group is seeking a Systems Engineer III DNS/DHCP for their Federal customer in the Raleigh, NC area. The ideal candidate will administer and troubleshoot Proxy and DNS technologies, and lead the design and implementation of new Blue Coat product deployments.
Responsibilities:
• Configure and manage DNS servers, zones, and records.
• Ensure DNS resolution is reliable and responsive.
• Implement DNS security measures such as DNSSEC and DDoS protection.
• Maintain DHCP servers and address pools.
• Monitor and manage IP address assignments and lease durations.
• Troubleshoot DHCP issues and optimize address allocation.
• Perform IP address planning, allocation, and tracking.
• Manage IP address space and subnets using IPAM tools.
• Ensure accurate IP address utilization and reporting.
• Collaborate with network engineers and administrators to integrate DDI services with the network infrastructure.
• Troubleshoot network connectivity issues related to DNS and DHCP services.
• Participate in network design and optimization projects.
• Implement and enforce security policies for DNS, DHCP, and IPAM services.
• Ensure compliance with data protection regulations and industry standards.
• Maintain up-to-date documentation of DDI configurations, changes, and procedures.
• Respond to incidents related to DNS, DHCP, and IPAM services in a timely manner.
• Diagnose and resolve service disruptions, outages, or performance issues.
• Escalate critical issues to higher support levels as needed.
Qualifications:
Required:
• A minimum of eight (8) to twelve (12) years’ relevant experience.
• A degree from an accredited College/University in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field or equivalent experience.
• Four (4) additional years of relevant experience in lieu of a college degree is required.
• If the individual’s degree is not in the applicable field, then four additional years of related experience is required.
• HTTP proxy configuration, integration, and administration expertise.
• Strong understanding of TCP/IP, UDP/IP, DNS, DHCP, HTTP/s and HTTP proxy.
• IP Mgmt, DNS, DHCP configuration, scripting of API calls.
• Knowledge of TCP, understanding network, protocol, and application traffic flows.
• Ability to troubleshoot basic network issues including IPv6.
• Network knowledge.
• Network design and implementation.
• Network troubleshooting.
• Tracking budget expenses.
• Project management.
• Problem solving and analytical skills.
• Time-management skills.
• Strong documentation skills.
• LAN knowledge.
• Network hardware configuration.
• Network performance tuning.
• Ability to maintain effective communication and working relationships with co-workers.
• Must be able to obtain a Position of Public Trust Clearance.
• Pass both a client mandated clearance process to include drug screening, criminal history check and credit check.
• All candidates must be a US Citizen or US Permanent Resident only.
• Candidate must have lived in the United States for the past 5 years.
• Cannot have more than 6 months travel outside the United States within the last five years. Military Service excluded.
Preferred:
• Preferred Broadcom Bluecoat.
• Preferred BlueCat Networks.
• Experience with APIs, scripting, and Splunk data flows.
• Preferred Perl, python, and JavaScript.
• Strong understanding of DNS and DHCP.
• Linux administration to include scripting and file system management.
• Proficient with application layer protocols – HTTP, SSH, SSL, etc.
• BlueCat DNS Platform.
• Infoblox DNS.
