Job description

Our Security Officers do it all, from working special events like Disney shows to regular perimeter checks of our buildings and offices.  If you thrive in an environment where no two days are exactly alike, and where professionalism and precision are valued, apply today to join us! This will be a Part-Time role with a variety of shift times and inclusive of days, nights, weekends and holidays.

As a Security Officer, you’d be part of a well-trained, cohesive team that provides 24/7 protection for co-workers and guests at our buildings and at special events. Your mission? To protect Disney property and safeguard our people!

Every day as a Security Officer is different!  Depending on your shift, on any given day you might:

  • Greet visitors, check company IDs, and provide temporary IDs at building entrances
  • Perform baggage, mail and anti-piracy screenings
  • Evaluate and screen the audience line at live theatrical shows
  • Be a security presence at live performances, events, or private parties
  • Patrol hallways and building perimeters to spot safety issues or irregularities
  • Fill out the logbook precisely and completely
  • Answer questions asked by visitors and employees in a friendly, professional way
  • Use your know-how and training to diffuse a tense situation
  • Respond to medical or fire incidents, and work directly with local first responders
  • Assist private security details brought by celebrities, sports stars, politicians and visiting dignitaries – even the President has been known to stop by
  • Control messenger flow and package delivery
  • Utilize technology to report and document incidents and manage information flow
  • Perform walk-through evaluation at off-site events

Here’s what you will need to be successful in the job:

  • 1 year or more of corporate security, law enforcement or military experience
  • Valid Security Guard Card/License issued by the state of NY
  • Excellent communication skills, including fluent written and spoken English, and strong command of basic English grammar
  • Ability to make quick decisions using your training and common sense
  • The knack for talking to people in a friendly way that gets results
  • A “team” orientation and willingness to collaborate
  • Physical ability to perform all aspects of the job and be outside in all weather; and
  • Flexible workdays/hours (this is a “shift work” role). You will be asked to work days, nights and weekends. Some overtime and overnight shift may be available.

It would be a plus if you also have these skills:

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience working under pressure
  • Ability to take command and diplomatically control difficult situations
  • CPR/AED trained or certified

Education is important to us, here is what we are looking for:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Associate degree or higher preferred

The hiring range for this position in New York is $25,560.00 to $34,200.00 per year based on a 24 hour work week. The amount of hours scheduled per week may vary based on business needs. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
