General Description
Being a Host/Hostess is more than just greeting and seating guests. The primary responsibility of the Host/Hostess is to be the first point of contact for the guest with the restaurant. The Host/Hostess must know everything about the restaurant, from hours of operation and directions to reservations and available seating. This information is used to make the guests' arrival at the restaurant a flawless experience and to keep other team members informed of what to expect.
Work Duties
  • Answer phone in a timely and appropriate manner
  • Prepare and maintain Host/Hostess area for guest arrival
  • Properly and efficiently utilize the restaurant reservation, seating and paging systems
  • Politely greet all guests in a timely fashion
  • Lead guests to the table and seat guests in an appropriate fashion
  • Politely inform guests of wait times and prepare wait lists as necessary
  • Answer any guest questions as necessary
  • Offer all guests a fond farewell
  • Have basic knowledge of acceptable forms of payment and the Disney Dining Plan
  • Perform work duties in compliance with all Company guidelines and policies
  • Display proper food safety procedures at all times
  • Follow all necessary laws and processes for the safe service of alcohol
  • Work closely with all other team members and display good teamwork
  • Follow the Disney 5-Keys Basics, Service Basics and Company Guidelines at all times
  • All other tasks as assigned

Position Requirements
Work Experience & Education Requirements
  • Minimum of one year of restaurant experience preferred
  • Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous host/hostess experience preferred
  • Must have or be able to obtain a State of Florida Food Safety Certificate
  • Must have or be able to obtain a Florida Responsible Vendors Certificate
  • Must be well versed in food safety - including proper techniques for handling food and personal hygiene requirement.
  • Must be well versed in laws and company practices regarding the safe and legal service of alcoholic beverages

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to perform all necessary job functions
  • Must be able to stand and be mobile for up to 4 consecutive hours
  • Must be able to function in narrow spaces, such as those found in kitchens and dining rooms
  • Must be able to lift and carry equipment/food up to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to push and pull (carts, doors etc.)
  • Must be able to reach, bend, kneel, stoop and crouch
  • Must be able to perform repetitive tasks
  • Must be able to complete work duties in a variety of environmental conditions, including coolers, freezers, kitchen environments and outdoors
  • Must be able to work around foods containing various food allergens
  • Must be able to communicate and interact politely and effectively with guests of all types
  • Must be able to effectively satisfy guest demands
  • Must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be fluent in the English language
  • Must be available to work weekends and holidays
  • Must be able to arrive for all assigned shifts on-time
  • Must be able to comply company appearance guidelines
