Job description

The Senior Director of Self Perform Construction leads strategic and operational efforts for self-performed construction activities in Civil, Electrical, and Mechanical scopes within an EPC portfolio of utility-scale solar and BESS projects, ensuring project delivery and financial performance.

**Position will be based at our Durham, NC Headquarters with frequent travel to project sites**

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Establishing long-term strategies, building a high-performing team, and defining organizational structures to support scalable operations across projects and regions.

• Oversees production planning, scheduling, and field execution to meet contractual milestones and integrates self-perform activities with overall project execution.

• Holds full P&L accountability, manages cost control and forecasting, directs workforce and equipment strategies, and ensures alignment with project needs.

• Identify and mitigate execution risks that could impact financial or schedule outcomes.

• Champions safety culture and compliance, maintains quality standards, supports continuous improvement, and collaborates cross-functionally with executive leadership and project.

• Ensure consistent quality execution and adherence to engineering standards, specifications, and approved means and methods.

• Partner with Project Management, Engineering, and Construction teams to integrate self-perform activities into overall EPC execution plans.

• Oversee tools, equipment, and fleet strategies to support safe, efficient, and scalable operations.

• Ensure alignment of staffing, training, and certification programs with project and operational needs

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• Directly supervise construction leadership roles and indirectly influence all self-perform craft leadership.

• Lead talent acquisition, performance development, succession planning, and employee engagement activities.

• Provide coaching, performance management, and leadership development guidance to build a robust and scalable organization.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

• Minimum of 10+ years of progressive experience within a self-performing EPC organization

• Executive-level leadership experience overseeing Civil, Electrical, and/or Mechanical self-perform scopes.

• Utility-scale solar EPC experience preferred; candidates from Oil & Gas, vertical construction (high-rise, commercial, multifamily), or other large-scale repetitive EPC environments will be considered.

• Proven experience with P&L ownership, production planning, schedule control, estimating, and resource management.

• Bachelor's degree in construction management, Engineering, or a related field required.

• Strong leadership presence with the ability to influence executive stakeholders, clients, and field leadership.
