Job Title: Child Psychiatrist – Medical Director
Location: The Children's Institute Squirrel Hill Campus, 1405 Shady Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15217
Status: Contracted role, with a flexible schedule – 12 hours/week
The Child Psychiatrist Medical Director provides psychiatric oversight to clinic staff within the outpatient behavioral health clinic and quality assurance support to the outpatient clinic, including school based locations. Additionally, responsibilities also include maintaining a panel of clients including evaluation and treatment to clients with psychological and psychiatric disorders. This role is integral to helping clients make the move towards resiliency and healing, and becoming happier and healthier at home, school, and in the community.
Responsibilities
  • Clinical support for all Outpatient therapists, including attending a bi-monthly treatment team.
  • Support all quality assurance and process improvement activities for the clinic in collaboration with the Clinical Director
  • Provide support to other psychiatry staff including CRNP
  • Maintains responsibility for own patient panel, providing care from the continuum of initial evaluation, through to discharge.
  • Performs culturally sensitive, strengths-based histories, exams, and determinations of diagnoses and appropriate treatments of clients
  • Responsible for all individual client care including clinical responsibility for follow-up visits, charting, internal/external meetings, communication with community resources, and staff education. Responds to client phone calls and conducts individual medication management visits for established clients on behalf of the psychiatrist.
  • Fills appropriate prescriptions timely and demonstrates intelligent decision-making regarding triaging of phone calls and lab information
  • Completes accurate billing, documentation (initial evaluation, individualized treatment plans, client and family progress, treatment provided and outcomes) and insurance authorization forms within specified timeframes and in the electronic medical record
  • Develops in partnership with the client and family plans for safety, crisis, and wellbeing (when needed) to support maintenance of stable functioning
  • Creates a discharge plan for all clients, including discharge instructions to be given to all families
Qualifications
  • MD or DO degree
  • Active Pennsylvania medical license
  • Completion of Psychiatry Residency
  • Completion of Child amp; Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship
  • DEA registration
  • Eligibility to prescribe controlled substances
  • Current CPR and First Aid Certification required or obtained upon hire.
  • Clearances Required: Act 73 FBI, Act 34 Criminal Clearance, and Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance
